For those who have placed their hopes in the European Union, and who believe that the EU can play a decisive role in confronting the challenges that we face, today the EU’s future — and its very nature — are at stake. An important part of the planet’s future will be played out in Europe: It is a future that begins tomorrow, and which will have effects for many years to come. Drawing on international youth activist networks, Giorgio Brizio collected the voices of twenty-seven mostly very young activists, with one contribution from each EU country. Each of them has written an intervention that starts from a local story and develops it to the European dimension. These are twenty-seven stories that each speak to us urgently. The elections taking place in 2024 will be the last ones that can be used to achieve the goal of keeping the Earth’s climate within +1.5 °C of the industrial-age average. All the relevant experts tell us that the actions that we decide on in these next few years will be crucial; after that point, it will be too late, and we will face a much worse situation. But the choices we make will have a decisive impact — especially on the lives of those who are now aged twenty or younger. There is a galaxy of young activists in Europe who probably represent the most committed part of civil society. Active, informed, aware, and keen to take their destiny into their own hands, these young people are also radically international. After all, they are well-aware that the problems they raise — the closely intertwined questions of climate, people’s rights, and migration — are not reducible to local solutions, but concern the whole of humanity. The effects of the choices we make tomorrow will mainly fall on their shoulders. Hearing their voice is a must. It has been acknowledged for some years that the early onset of delinquency can predict a long and serious criminal career. Most resources are targeted at the teenage years but this book argues convincingly that more research and interventions should be aimed at child delinquents aged 12 and under. Tomorrow's Criminals addresses key problems in criminological research and makes studies from the Netherlands more accessible to a wider audience. It provides information and analyses on risk factors and reviews screening tools and risk-focused prevention methods. The contributions increase visibility and accessibility of European policy and practice in the explanation and prevention of child delinquency.

About the Book How is mankind going to cope with an ever-increasingly warming world? The author presents, with many examples, strong evidence that the world is warming which will have profound effect on our lives and future generations. This has become the greatest issue of our times, actually of all times, and he has presented the evidence this is true. Humanity is on trial with little time left to recover before unrepairable damage occurs to our way of life and our ability to maintain a lasting livable Earth. This is not the message that political leaders, policy makers, or friends and neighbors want to hear. Unfortunately, it is the ultimate “Inconvenient Future”. About the Author Robert Byrum has lived a full and rewarding life of action, adventure, friendships, and lots of happiness. He was born and grew up in San Diego and moved to Montana in 1990, seeking a new horizon and a quality of life which he found. Following his passion for living and adventure has allowed him and his wife Nancy to enjoy traveling the world, witnessing other lands and people. They have had the pleasure of fishing and hunting in many locations and have enjoyed competing with their Labrador Retrievers. Writing has become a new hobby; this is his fourth book in the last two years.

The Next Big Idea Club, Best Leadership Books of 2022 In an era of political and cultural extremism, America’s corporate leaders have emerged as the pragmatic center of a movement for social and economic progress. The core tenets of a capitalist system that dominated the world for more than a century are being challenged as never before. Narratives about the failures of capitalism, the greed of the 1 percent, and the blindness of corporations to public need have made their mark and are driving change. These aren’t the superficial cosmetic fixes that generated so much cynicism in the past, but a revolution in the way corporations are imagined and run. Tomorrow’s Capitalist reveals how corporate CEOs—the ultimate pragmatists—realized that they could lose their “operating license” unless they tackle the fundamental issues of our time: climate, diversity and inclusion, and inequality and workforce opportunity. Responding to their employees and customers who are demanding corporate change, they have taken the lead in establishing the bold new principles of stakeholder capitalism, ensuring that for the first time in more than a half a century it is not just shareholders who have a say in how corporations are run. Alan Murray vividly captures the zeitgeist of the real and compelling dynamic that is transforming much of the corporate world.

Discussing the laws in the current research funding decision process, the author suggests ways to improve future funding of health research systems. Chapters recount ways of raising funds, the tragic way authorities improperly introduced diptheria immunization, consideration of how the peer review system evolved in response to massive infusion of funds in the nineteen forties, and the status quo generating a climate conducive to ethics violations, among others. This fascinating work will be an invaluable tool to researchers, health care workers, members of government agencies and those in charitable organizations that support health research, as well as to anyone interested in current trends in this area, including patients.
