Mødet med det fremmede i sjælelivet har vi valgt at gøre til omdrejningspunkt for artiklerne i dette hæfte af FOREGANGE, der blandt andet fremlægger en ny dansk oversættelse af en af Freuds bestræbelser på at redegøre for vanskelighederne ved psykoanalysen, der som oftest, også i dag, optræder som modstande mod den, modstande der, også efter ethundrede år, er kendetegnet ved en uskøn blanding af logisk nøjsomhed og lidenskabelighed, som Freud skriver. Foruden artikler om psykoanalysens modtagelse i Danmark og de vedvarende og lidenskabelige bestræbelser på at holde psykoanalytiske erkendelser på afstand også i dag, fx i positiv psykologi og mindfulness-baseret behandling, præsenterer vi en oversættelse af en kort, men vidtrækkende artikel af Jacques Lacan om "Freuds 'Trieb' og psykoanalytikerens ønske" sammen med en grundig introduktion til teksten. Hæftet indeholder desuden en eksemplificering af subjektiveringens vanskeligheder i 1900-tallets begyndelse i form af udbredelsen af såkaldte sundhedsgymnastiske systemer.

I den forudgående afhandling har jeg ved siden af arbejdet med psykologien ved visse sjælelige sygdomstilstande også forsøgt at bringe seksualteorien et stykke videre. Dog begrænsede jeg mig i den forbindelse til at udbygge læren om libidoens prægenitale organisationstrin. Denne del af seksualteorien omfatter de forvandlinger, der sker med hensyn til seksualmålet i løbet af et menneskes psykoseksuelle udvikling. Men siden Freuds grundlæggende undersøgelser sondrer vi mellem disse og de foregange, der angår forholdet til seksualobjektet. De antagelser vi indtil nu har haft om objektkærlighedens ontogenese, yder ikke fænomenerne retfærdighed i tilstrækkelig grad. Især psykoanalysen af de sygdomstilstande, som vi med Freud sammenfatter som de narcissistiske neuroser, stiller os over for et antal psykoseksuelle forekomster, som kræver en tilpasning af vor teori.
