This volume contains the proceedings of FORTE 2003, the 23rd IFIP TC 6/ WG 6.1 International Conference on Formal Techniques for Networked and D- tributed Systems, held in Berlin, Germany, September 29–October 2, 2003. FORTE denotes a series of international working conferences on formal descr- tion techniques (FDTs) applied to computer networks and distributed systems. The conference series started in 1981 under the name PSTV. In 1988 a s- ond series under the name FORTE was set up. Both series were united to FORTE/PSTV in 1996. Two years ago the conference name was changed to its current form. The last ?ve meetings of this long conference series were held in Paris, France (1998), Beijing, China (1999), Pisa, Italy (2000), Cheju Island, Korea (2001), and Houston, USA (2002). The 23rd FORTE conference was especially dedicated to the application of formal description techniques to practice, especially in the Internet and c- munication domain. The scope of the papers presented at FORTE 2003 covered the application of formal techniques, timed automata, FDT-based design, v- i?cation and testing of communication systems and distributed systems, and the veri?cation of security protocols. In addition, work-in-progress papers were presented which have been published in a separate volume.

Widely adopted by service providers to enable IP telephony, instant messaging, and other data services, SIP is the signaling protocol of choice for advanced multimedia communications signaling. Compiled by noted engineering experts Syed Ahson and Mohammad Ilyas, SIP Handbook: Services, Technologies, and Security of Session Initiation Protocol presents a thorough technical review of all aspects of SIP. It captures the current state of IP Multimedia Subsystem technology and provides a unique source of comprehensive reference material on this subject. SIP Applications for Today and Tomorrow The scope of this volume ranges from basic concepts to future perspectives. Divided into three sections, the book begins with a discussion of SIP in peer-to-peer networks and then goes on to examine advanced media integration, migration considerations, mobility management, and group conferencing, while also reviewing home networking and compliance issues. The middle section of the book focuses on the underlying technologies of SIP. Chapters review network architecture, vertical handoffs, NAT traversals, multipoint extensions, and other areas at the forefront of research. Finally, the text examines various security vulnerabilities and provides perspectives on secure intelligent SIP services with a future outlook on a fraud detection framework in VoIP networks. Insights from International Researchers Authored by 65 experts from across the world, this text is sure to advance the field of knowledge in this ever-changing industry and provide further impetus for new areas of exploration. Because of the editors’ pivotal influence and their proximity to both the current market and the latest science, this work is certain to become the definitive text on this emerging technology.

Design Methods And Applications For Distributed Embedded Systems written by Bernd Kleinjohann and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-04-11 with Computers categories.

The IFIP TC-10 Working Conference on Distributed and Parallel Embedded Systems (DIPES 2004) brings together experts from industry and academia to discuss recent developments in this important and growing field in the splendid city of Toulouse, France. The ever decreasing price/performance ratio of microcontrollers makes it economically attractive to replace more and more conventional mechanical or electronic control systems within many products by embedded real-time computer systems. An embedded real-time computer system is always part of a well-specified larger system, which we call an intelligent product. Although most intelligent products start out as stand-alone units, many of them are required to interact with other systems at a later stage. At present, many industries are in the middle of this transition from stand-alone products to networked embedded systems. This transition requires reflection and architecting: The complexity of the evolving distributed artifact can only be controlled, if careful planning and principled design methods replace the - hoc engineering of the first version of many standalone embedded products.
