Il volume intende riflettere sulle finalità pedagogiche del corso di formazione per il conseguimento della specializzazione per le attività di sostegno didattico agli alunni con disabilità. In proposito, al suo interno vengono anche presentati alcuni risultati emersi da ricerche condotte nell’ambito degli ultimi cicli del corso. Mediante contributi teorici e di ricerca le autrici e l’autore desiderano ragionare sulle strategie didattiche essenziali per lavorare come insegnante di sostegno e sul ruolo che il percorso formativo del corso riveste sul futuro professionale di quanti e quante lo intraprendono. A riguardo, il tirocinio (diretto e indiretto) previsto dal Decreto Ministeriale 30 settembre 2011 che ha definito i criteri e le modalità per lo svolgimento dei corsi di formazione per il conseguimento della specializzazione per le attività di sostegno gioca un ruolo decisivo in quanto i corsisti e le corsiste hanno modo di confrontarsi con docenti esperti/e sulle competenze metodologiche necessarie e sui modelli culturali che animano le istituzioni scolastiche. In tal senso, il corso di formazione per il conseguimento della specializzazione per le attività di sostegno diviene anche occasione per ripensare il background degli specializzandi e delle specializzande i/le quali talvolta faticano ad abbandonare atteggiamenti pregiudizievoli e stereotipati circa la disabilità, il genere femminile e la provenienza da un Paese diverso dal proprio. Tale modello, con la sua universalità, poggia sui valori etici delle pari opportunità e dell’equità e sollecita un’interessante visione del mondo educativo con proposte metodologiche orientate verso una rivoluzione di pensiero centrata sul rispetto della diversità-unicità umana, sulla flessibilità, sull’accessibilità reale ai processi di apprendimento, sul riconoscimento e sulla valorizzazione delle differenze di ogni persona.

L’apprendimento non va considerato solo come l'acquisizione di contenuti attraverso lo sforzo cognitivo individuale, ma anche come un prodotto sociale che emerge dalla collaborazione, dallo scambio, dal conflitto, dalle azioni, dalla negoziazione tra soggetti inseriti in un contesto, in cui anche le emozioni svolgono un ruolo determinante. Questo elaborato teorico, tesi conclusiva del percorso di Specializzazione per le Attività di Sostegno didattico agli Alunni con Disabilità per la Scuola Secondaria di Secondo grado, presenta la didattica laboratoriale rintracciandone sia i riferimenti teorici, sia il ruolo che può svolgere per favorire l'inclusione a scuola. Si sofferma, anche, sulla prospettiva inaugurata dall’OMS che guarda alla disabilità come ad una condizione di salute in un ambiente sfavorevole. Sottolinea, inoltre, l’importanza, per chi svolge il ruolo di insegnante specializzato per le attività di sostegno agli alunni con disabilità, sia di progettare contesti e attività all'interno del contesto scolastico rivolte all’intera classe, sia di una continua riflessione su di sé, sulla propria esperienza di insegnamento/apprendimento e, quindi, di una formazione e auto-formazione continua, di un insegnamento vissuto e portato avanti come ricerca e sperimentazione. Il lavoro è stato presentato e discusso all'Università di Padova alla conclusione dell'Anno Accademico 2014-2015.

In questo libro vengono riportati alcuni studi con dati di ricerca originali elaborati dai gruppi delle Università di Perugia, Padova, Cagliari e Bolzano, che dovrebbero essere attentamente considerati nel contesto legislativo prossimo venturo.Gli studi presentati nel libro dimostrano che forme evolutive verso una didattica inclusiva con ruoli paritari tra curricolare e sostegno sono possibili e portano a situazioni didattiche migliori, così come è dimostrato che un’evoluzione nella direzione di una didattica inclusiva fondata sulla compresenza curricolare–ex sostegno e sul ruolo di supporto metodologico esercitato da tutor esperti itineranti risulta positiva in termini di risultati di apprendimento e di socialità in tutti gli alunni.Sembra quindi che sia possibile sostenere la fattibilità e l’utilità di un’evoluzione del ruolo degli insegnanti di sostegno nella direzione di una «didattica universale», efficace per tutti gli alunni e improntata ai valori della giustizia come equità.
