German description: Der Augsburg-Munchner-Entwurf eines Fortpflanzungsmedizingesetzes (AME-FMedG) stellt eine grundsatzliche Neuregelung der medizinisch unterstutzten Fortpflanzung vor. Das geltende Embryonenschutzgesetz ist aufgrund der medizinischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung uberholt. Deshalb ist es notwendig, das Fortpflanzungsmedizinrecht umfassend zu novellieren. Der vorliegende Entwurf geht von dem Recht aller Menschen aus, medizinisch unterstutzte Fortpflanzungstechniken in Anspruch zu nehmen. Auf dieser Grundlage werden Neuregelungen fur die kunstliche Befruchtung, die Praimplantationsdiagnostik, die Samen- und Eizellenspende, den Embryonentransfer, die Leihmutterschaft sowie den Umgang mit uberzahligen Embryonen vorgeschlagen. Missbrauchliche Fortpflanzungstechniken, wie die Geschlechtswahl, die Keimbahnintervention, das Klonen sowie die Chimaren- und Hybridbildung, sollen grundsatzlich untersagt werden.

Such a common focus should not be exaggerated, for the discussion of topics is wide-ranging. But that commonality, when in evidence, is also not surprising. It suggests that key issues and concerns in bioethics may be widely shared among modern cultures and societies, for all the distinctiveness of a particular nation's or region's response to them. Issues of informed consent, after all, implicate more fundamental matters of respect for persons and the rights of individuals in the contexts of therapy and research.
