Dois universos estéticos distantes, a fotografia e a poesia, são aqui conectados pela sensibilidade e erudição do poeta, crítico e curador Adolfo Montejo Navas, que mereceu pelo ensaio o prêmio Marc Ferrez de Fotografia em 2015, na categoria Reflexão Crítica. Com uma análise refinada, o autor vai traçando afinidades eletivas, alianças e reverberações, evidenciando diálogos, conceitos e referências poéticas entre esses dois universos. De um lado, encontramos a fotografia, linguagem que influenciou e influencia de maneira marcante a contemporaneidade; de outro, a poesia, em certo sentido uma relíquia em nossos tempos, mas que continua a inspirar a humanidade desde a Antiguidade. Nessa cartografia fronteiriça a imagem se destaca como matriz comum, uma defesa expandida da poiesis como linguagem da criação inaugural. Ao percorrer a fotografia do século XX, o crítico trata das inescapáveis questões contemporâneas que essa linguagem traz, como seu permanente processo de transformação por sucessivas inovações técnicas, em especial a mais recente revolução digital. Falar da fotografia hoje é falar de um momento em que já não cabem classificações taxativas – esvai-se cada vez mais a distinção entre fotógrafos e artistas que utilizam a fotografia, por exemplo. Já a poesia é vista aqui não como sinônimo de poema, mas sim como uma forma particular de conhecimento. Parte do virtuoso trabalho do autor é alinhavar uma pluralidade de referências e de olhares de modo a ampliar as percepções do leitor em relação às duas formas artísticas. No final, o livro traz um encarte impresso em 4 cores, com 24 poéticas - Montejo Navas apresenta perfis e obras de 24 artistas, que vão desde os artistas contemporâneos brasileiros Rodrigo Braga e Paulo Bruscky até nomes consagrados mundialmente como Robert Frank e Man Ray.

Poiesis Bruscky surveys the five-decade career of Brazilian conceptual artist Paulo Bruscky (born 1949). In the 1960s, and throughout the ensuing decades of Brazil's military rule, Bruscky used mail art, collage, artist's books, visual poetry and newspaper interventions to launch his often humorous critiques of the country's dictatorship. He is famed for his courageous, political performance works (which have often placed him in direct conflict with the law or military authorities), as well as sculpture, sound art and street art; Bruscky also exchanged correspondence with members of the Fluxus group, assembling one of the largest Fluxus collections in Latin America. Molotov's library and his magic lantern became the prisms through which Rachel Polonsky renewed her vision of Russia.
