Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Geography / Earth Science - Miscellaneous, grade: A, Atlantic International University, course: SEMINAR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT I, language: English, abstract: This book Fractal Time by Braden is fascinating. The author centers his analysis on the year 2012, which many people gave interpretation to. An interpretation that consisted of seeing that year as the end of the world. Besides, that way of viewing things for the year 2012 was a confusion of events. At least Braden wrote the book before the coming of that year, which proves that the explanations he gives in his book are trustful. When Braden works on the year 2012, his focus is about the cycles of times. Cycles of times that can occur in our day-to-day life and are more likely to repeat after many years. According to the author we have to approach this year the best way possible. To convey his message, he talks about 20 times codes that are developed in the book. Time code 1 says that we are living the completion of a 58,185-year-long cycle of time- a world age that the ancient Maya calculated would end the winter of the solstice on December 21, 2012. We are living the end of time, not the end of the world as a lot people predicted, but the end of a world age. For example, the present world age began in 3114 B.C. and will end in A.D. 2012. Time code 2 states that our ancestors recorded their experience of the last end of time showing beyond a reasonable doubt that the close of one world age is the beginning of the next, and not the end of the world. Now, the question might be: what is the meaning of the end of world age? Those who came before us knew the end of the time was coming, they knew because it always does. Accordingly, Braden asserts that every 5,125 years, the Earth and our solar system reach a place in their journey through the heavens that mark the end of such a time cycle. Only five generations in the last 26,000 years have experienced the shift of

In his latest book, former senior computer systems designer and bestselling author Gregg Braden merges these ancient and modern world views into a powerful new model of time. Marrying the modern laws of fractal patterns to the ancient concept of cycles, he demonstrates how everything from the war and peace between nations to our most joyous relationships and personal crises are the returning patterns of our past. As each pattern returns, it carries the same conditions of previous cycles - fractal patterns that can be known, measured and predicted! What makes this model so important today is that the returning cycles also carry a window of opportunity - a choice point - that allows us to choose a new outcome for the cycle. Braden suggests that if we can see time from this perspective, the patterns will show us what's in store for the future, and perhaps how to avoid the mistakes of our past. After presenting the case histories that confirm the accuracy of fractal time calculations, the author crosses the traditional boundaries of science and spirituality to answer the question that must be asked; What does fractal time tell us about 2012, and beyond? Because the cycles repeat, the seed for 2012 has already happened and the pattern already exists! In a narrative format of easy-to-read science and true-life accounts, Fractal Time shows us what we can expect as we close the Great World Age described by the Mayan Calendar, and the secret to our moment in history.

The ancient civilisation of the Mayans created a calendar that is still incredibly accurate today. Through observation of the stars they developed an understanding of the patterns of history, the ages of humankind, and even calculated exact dates when a new age would begin. The next age is set to begin on 21st December 2012. Drawing upon the elaborate and infinite patterns observable in nature, Gregg Braden shows the systems that lie behind the shaping of history. Taking his starting point from the Mayans, he shows their marking of the new age is but one instance of the cyclical nature of history. By understanding how our actions are repetitions of those in the past, Gregg shows us a way to make sense of the present and the dramatic changes yet to come. Gregg Braden's discoveries take us across the world and throughout time as he reveals the truth about our past, present and future. Please note: This is a new edition of the book previously published under the title Fractal Time: The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age.

In this compelling exploration of life, Gregg Braden merges the modern discoveries of nature’s patterns (fractals) with the ancient view of a cyclic universe. The result is a powerful model of time—fractal time—and a realistic window into what we can expect for the mysterious year 2012 . . . and beyond. Applying fractal time to the history of the world and life, he proposes that everything from the war and peace between nations to the patterns of human relationships mirror the returning cycles of our past. As each cycle repeats, it carries a more powerful, amplified version of itself. The key: If you know where to look in the past, you know what to expect when the same conditions return in the present and future. For the first time in print, the Time Code Calculator gives you the toolto do just that! Through easy-to-understand science and step-by-step instructions, discover for yourself: • How the conditions for 2012 have occurred in the past, and what we can expect when they repeat! • The “hot dates” that hold the greatest threats of war and greatest opportunities for peace, as well as economic cycles such as the stockmarket collapse of 2008! • How Earth’s location in space triggers cycles of spiritual growth for humans! • Your personal Time Codes for the key events of business, relationships, and change in your life! • How each cycle carries a window of opportunity—a choice point—that allows us to select a new outcome for the returning pattern! • What the 1999 ice cores from Antarctica reveal about past cycles of climate, global warming, Earth’s protective magnetic fields, and what these things mean for us today!

The Crisis:Best-selling author and visionary scientist Gregg Braden suggests that the hottest topics that divide us as families, cultures, and nations-seemingly disparate issues such as war, terrorism, abortion, genocide, poverty, economic collapse, climate change, and nuclear threats-are actually related. They all stem from a worldview based upon the false assumptions of an incomplete science. The History:The obsolete beliefs of our modern worldview have brought us to the brink of disaster and the loss of all that we cherish as a civilization. Our reluctance to accept new discoveries about our relationship to the earth, one another, and our ancient past keeps us locked into the thinking that has led to the crises threatening our lives today. The Facts:The scientific method allows for, and expects, new information to be revealed and assimilated into our existing beliefs. It's the updating of scientific knowledge with the new facts from new discoveries that is the key to keeping science honest, current, and meaningful. To continue teaching science that is not supported by the new discoveries-ones based upon accepted scientific methods-is not, in fact, scientific. But this is precisely what we see happening in traditional textbooks, classrooms, and mainstream media today. The Opportunity:Explore for yourself the discoveries that change 150 years of scientific beliefs, yet are still not reflected in mainstream thinking, including:• Evidence of advanced, near-ice age civilizations• The origin of, and reasons for, war in our ancient past, and why it may become obsolete in our time• The false assumptions of human evolution and of the Darwinian theory "Let the strongest live and the weakest die" and how this plays out in corporations, societies, warfare, and civilization todayDeep Truth reveals new discoveries that change the way we think about everything from our personal relationships to civilization itself. When the facts become clear, our choices become obvious.

The exploration takes us into the realms of a global catastrophe and its aftermath. Through the eyes of a now older woman, we explore her journey through the many challenges, tough decisions, and attacks on mans moral and ethical fibre in the battle for survival in the aftermath. It provokes us to explore many questions, not least of which is how we ourselves might react. If we were to be honest with ourselves, the answers may be startling indeed. Woven within this journey through time are references to aspects of life today and how, in the eyes of someone in the aftermath, these appear shallow and inconsequential. The alternative viewpoints proposed working with wisdom seemingly lost to us in our current frenetic, cluttered lifestyleswill assist us in improving our free-thinking evaluation of life today. We explore too how the ancient civilizations and their knowledge simply vanished, providing some insight into this phenomenon. Could this also occur with the global civilization we have currently? Surely not, you might say. It appears, however, that we may be a far more fragile species than we would like to believe with, sadly, a potentially very thin veneer of modern humanitarian practices.

The cutting edge of neurolinguistics meets the spiritual wisdom of the ages in a handbook of key words that literally rewire our brains. New discoveries in biology and the neurosciences are revealing how the structure of language-the words we think and speak-can actually change the way the neurons in our brains and hearts connect. But our ancestors understood this connection intuitively, thousands of years ago. They created specific word-patterns to provide comfort, healing, strength, and inner power in difficult times, and they encoded these powerful words in prayers, chants, mantras, hymns, and sacred writings to preserve them for future generations. Now beloved teacher and thought leader Gregg Braden cracks the code and puts these powerful words in your hands. Perfect as a pocket guide, a reference for spiritual study, or a gift to someone you love, this elegant, compact book contains Wisdom Codes that cut to the core of life's greatest tests, most challenging demands, and hardest lessons. You'll find chapters devoted to healing from loss and grief, facing your unspoken fears, finding certainty in the face of uncertain choices, and finding forgiveness, as well as ancient parables that offer a "fast track" to unraveling life's deepest mysteries. Each Wisdom Code-distilled from a quote, a scripture passage, or a parable-is accompanied by a brief discussion of what the code means, why it's important, and how to apply it in your life.
