Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Allgemeines, Note: 2,3, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Department Geschichte), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit untersucht die Rolle von Franz Joseph in der Außenpolitik und seine Einsetzung für die Erhaltung des Friedens. Inwiefern sah er möglicherweise einen Krieg als notwendig oder unvermeidbar an? Nahm er Einfluss, und wenn ja, in welcher Form? Diese Fragen sollen im Vergleich mit anderen wichtigen außenpolitischen Entscheidungsträgern in Österreich-Ungarn mit Schwerpunkt auf der Zeit ab 1908 untersucht werden. Im ersten inhaltlichen Beispiel möchte der Autor auf den Ausgleich eingehen. Seine Entstehung wird nur kurz geschildert, da sich die Arbeit auf dessen Inhalte und praktischen realen Auswirkungen konzentriert. Im zweiten Kapitel möchte der Autor auf Franz Joseph als Familienoberhaupt eingehen. Dabei soll auf die Personen Maximilian, Rudolf, Elisabeth, Franz Ferdinand und ihre Tötungen jeweils kurz eingegangen werden. Etwas näher soll das jeweilige Verhältnis Franz Josephs zu diesen Figuren beleuchtet werden. Im dritten Kapitel soll es um das Zusammenleben der Völker gehen. Am Beispiel der Ungarn, Tschechen, Südslawen und Deutschen soll das konfliktreiche Zusammenleben verdeutlicht werden. Dabei soll es zentral um die Frage gehen, inwieweit dem Kaiser ein identitätsstiftendes Zusammenhalten des Reiches gelang. Auch der unterschiedliche Umgang mit den Völkern in der österreichischen und der ungarischen Reichshälfte soll verglichen und analysiert werden. Dabei soll es ausschließlich um die internationalen Krisen in den letzten 9 Jahren vor Kriegsausbruch gehen. Im Mittelpunkt der gesamten Darstellung soll der Entscheidungsprozess in der österreichisch-ungarischen Außenpolitik stehen. Der rote Faden der Untersuchung soll sein, inwieweit die einzelnen Führungspersonen auf die Erhaltung des Friedens bedacht waren oder inwieweit sie möglicherweise einen baldigen Krieg anstrebten. Gerade die innen- und außenpolitischen Entscheidungsprozesse in der Donaumonarchie sollen mit der differenzierten Herangehensweise beleuchtet werden. Im fünften Bespiel soll es um die zwischen den Historikern Jean Paul Bled und Manfried Rauchensteiner umstrittene Frage gehen, ob Franz Joseph in der Julikrise 1914 grundsätzlich auf den Erhalt des Friedens bedacht war und dies nur durch Hinterlistigkeit anderer hintertrieben wurde oder ob er selbst den Krieg fatalistisch anstrebte.

The book presents an overview of the term neuropsychoanalysis and traces its historical and scientific foundations as well as its cultural implications. It also turns its attention to some blind spots, open questions, and to what the future may hold. It examines the cooperative and conflicted relationship between psychoanalysis and neuroscience. Articles from different fields investigate the neurological basis of psychoanalysis as well as the psychological terms of neurology. They also discuss what psychoanalysis has to offer neuroscience. In addition, the emerging neuro-psychoanalytical dialogue is enriched here by the voice of a culturally informed history of science. The book brings leading authorities on these topics into conversation with each other, creating an unprecedented opportunity to better understand the ‘language’ of the psyche. Specific concerns include the discussion of corporeality, how the body figures into psychoanalysis, the meaning of the unconscious in connection with dreams, unconscious fantasies, and the field of epigenetics. Following a historical perspective the book provides a re-reading of Freud's drive theory, exploring his concept of ‘life’ at the threshold of science and culture as well as the relationship between various representations, somatic states and the origin of drive. Overall, the book argues that if the different methodological approaches of psychoanalysis and neuroscience are acknowledged not only for their individual uniqueness but also as a dialectic, then the resulting epistemological and methodological dialogue might open up a fascinating body of neuropsychoanalytical knowledge.

After World War I, diplomats and leaders at the Paris Peace Talks redrew the map of Europe, carving up ancient empires and transforming Europe's eastern half into new nation-states. Drawing heavily on the past, the leaders of these young countries crafted national mythologies and deployed them at home and abroad. Domestically, myths were a tool for legitimating the new state with fractious electorates. In Great Power capitals, they were used to curry favor and to compete with the mythologies and propaganda of other insecure postwar states. The new postwar state of Czechoslovakia forged a reputation as Europe's democratic outpost in the East, an island of enlightened tolerance amid an increasingly fascist Central and Eastern Europe. In Battle for the Castle, Andrea Orzoff traces the myth of Czechoslovakia as an ideal democracy. The architects of the myth were two academics who had fled Austria-Hungary in the Great War's early years. Tom?as Garrigue Masaryk, who became Czechoslovakia's first president, and Edvard Benes, its longtime foreign minister and later president, propagated the idea of the Czechs as a tolerant, prosperous, and cosmopolitan people, devoted to European ideals, and Czechoslovakia as a Western ally capable of containing both German aggression and Bolshevik radicalism. Deeply distrustful of Czech political parties and Parliamentary leaders, Benes and Masaryk created an informal political organization known as the Hrad or "Castle." This powerful coalition of intellectuals, journalists, businessmen, religious leaders, and Great War veterans struggled with Parliamentary leaders to set the country's political agenda and advance the myth. Abroad, the Castle wielded the national myth to claim the attention and defense of the West against its increasingly hungry neighbors. When Hitler occupied the country, the mythic Czechoslovakia gained power as its leaders went into wartime exile. Once Czechoslovakia regained its independence after 1945, the Castle myth reappeared. After the Communist coup of 1948, many Castle politicians went into exile in America, where they wrote the Castle myth of an idealized Czechoslovakia into academic and political discourse. Battle for the Castle demonstrates how this founding myth became enshrined in Czechoslovak and European history. It powerfully articulates the centrality of propaganda and the mass media to interwar European cultural diplomacy and politics, and the tense, combative atmosphere of European international relations from the beginning of the First World War well past the end of the Second.

Dadurch gelingt es Opitz zumindest einen Mythos zu widerlegen, nämlich dass die Reformationszeit eine langweilige Periode war, in der es nicht viel mehr außer den herkömmlichen Mythen zu entdecken gäbe.
