Some people migrate and then they can struggle to find belonging in their host nation. And sometimes they then choose to return to their home nation, to a culturally safe space, as a self-protective mechanism. But surprisingly when some return home to their safe place they no longer see themselves as belonging there either. The reality is that, whether they are aware of it or not, cultural transition has already begun to take place within them. Have you ever wondered how to find a way to move and/or be moved from place to place and still be at peace within yourself? Have you ever wondered how you can allow yourself to feel attached to two, three, or more different nations in one same heart and still feel peace? Yes, this is the heart of those who have navigated and found the true meaning of belonging. And you can do it too. Belonging can be found when we have the courage to let go. To let go of our identity being exclusively attached to a nation. To allow ourselves to see the different perspectives of our host nation. To allow ourselves to embrace cultural transition and its challenges. In the end we actually belong nowhere... we belong everywhere. Which means that anywhere on earth can become just an extension of the bigger picture, the universe. And you can be at peace, regardless of the place on earth you find yourself in, as you realise you are a citizen of the world and of the universe.

A classic treatise on international maritime law. Originally published: New York: Oxford University Press, 1916. xv, (xiv-xv, 79 pp. paged in duplicate (158 pp.)), 81-83 pp. (total 182 pp.) A translation of Grotius's Mare Liberum, with Latin and English on facing pages. This groundbreaking work was commissioned by the Dutch East India Company to dispute the monopoly on East Indian trade routes claimed by the Portuguese. It argues that the seas are international territory open to all nations, thus rejecting the idea that any area of the seas could belong to a country. An instant classic, it received a great deal of attention when it was published in 1609. Perhaps the most important reply is John Selden's Mare Clausum (1635), which defends British claims to sovereignty over the coastal waters of the British Isles.

Book Excerpt: ...avenge our wrongs! But alas! we were only slaves, and had no legal rights; consequently we were compelled to smother our wounded feelings, and crouch beneath the iron heel of despotism.I must now give the account of our escape; but, before doing so, it may be well to quote a few passages from the fundamental laws of slavery; in order to give some idea of the legal as well as the social tyranny from which we fled.According to the law of Louisiana, "A slave is one who is in the power of a master to whom he belongs. The master may sell him, dispose of his person, his industry, and his labour; he can do nothing, possess nothing, nor acquire anything but what must belong to his master."--Civil Code, art. 35.In South Carolina it is expressed in the following language: --"Slaves shall be deemed, sold, taken, reputed and judged in law to be chattels personal in the hands of their owners and possessors, and their executors, administrators, and assigns, to all intents, constructions, and purposes...

Freedom From Religion And Human Rights Law written by Marika McAdam and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-14 with Law categories.

Although human rights belong to all persons on the basis of their humanity, this book demonstrates that in the practice of international human rights law, the freedom to be non-religious or atheist does not receive the same protection as the freedom to be religious. Despite the claimed universality of freedom of religion and belief contained in article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the key assertion made is that there is a hierarchy of religion and belief, with followers of major established religions enjoying high protection and low regulation at the top, and atheists and non-believers enduring high persecution and weaker protection at the bottom. The existence of this hierarchy is proven and critiqued through three case study chapters that respectively explore the extent to which non-religious and atheist rights-holders enjoy freedom from proselytism, freedom from hate and freedom from the religions of their parents.
