FreeNAS 是一套免費NAS OS, 目前已有9百萬套以上的下載次數, 它的版本發展是分別以8.x , 9.x , 10.x , 11.x 進行的, 其中 10.x 在今年初正式命名為FreeNAS Corral是一個支援虛擬主機(VM)及Docker的免費NAS作業系統, 但因為首次支援VM/ Docker且需使用較大的執行資源, 在操作穩定性上仍有不足, 尤其在操作不慎時, 容易出錯. 所以日前正式版本(Release)已退回技術檢驗版(Technical Review). 至於11.x版則還在 Alpha 階段. 而8.x 也有一段未再更新. 目前官方建議使用的版本是9.x, 而官網上建議下載的正試版本也只剩9.x. (目前版號為9.10.2-U3) 若有其它版本需求乃可至http://download.freenas.org下載. 本書首先介紹如何安裝FreeNAS 9.10, 再來介紹如何用Samba分享檔案. 接著以Transmission(Torrent P2P下載APP) ,PlexMediaServer(功能完善的影片管理系統)及Nextcloud (雲端系統)為例介紹如何安裝FreeNAS Plugins及 操作方式.
