Die Freiheit ist sicherlich einer der zentralen Aspekte unserer heutigen Gesellschaft und der Wunsch nach Freiheit führt immer wieder dazu, dass Menschen, teils unter Einsatz ihres Lebens für ebendiese kämpfen und sich gegen die vorliegenden Verhältnisse auflehnen. Auch wenn es auf den ersten Blick vielleicht einfach erscheinen mag, zu beschreiben was Freiheit ist, hält die Debatte über die genaue Definition von Freiheit bis heute an, denn „Freiheit, so haben andere bekanntlich hinzugefügt, ist für einen Oxford- Professor etwas anderes als für einen ägyptischen Bauern“ (Berlin 2006). Wenn wir an Freiheit denken, dann denken wir in erster Linie daran, nicht durch irgendetwas oder irgendjemanden in unserem Handeln eingeschränkt zu werden. Aber ist dies wirklich die einzige Form von Freiheit? Ist Freiheit nicht noch mehr als die bloße Abwesenheit von Zwang und sind wir schon frei, nur wenn wir an nichts gehindert werden?
