Advances in printing technology during the 16th century ushered in an incredible array of printed needlework patterns. This collection is reproduced from Italian master Dominique de Séra's work titled "Le Livre de Lingerie" published in 1584 on the "noble and elegant art of lacemaking." This book is Volume 2 in a series of 3, with 21 pages of charted designs and 5 pages of line drawings for lacemaking or embroidery.Classic motifs, borders and scenes such as the ones presented here are easily adapted by modern needleworkers. Designs charted on graph paper are a universal language which can be translated into needlepoint, counted cross stitch, filet crochet and beadwork, with each square on the pattern representing a single stitch. The line drawings work beautifully for embroidery as well as traditional needle lacemaking techniques. A page of plain graph paper has been added at the end of the book to aid you in adapting these designs to your own creations.

Create Your Own World-Class Lace A thorough introduction to a centuries-old tradition, Russian Lace Patterns presents 66 templates taught by two renowned masters of their craft, Bridget Cook and Anna Korableva. Starting in the 12th century this exquisite lace adorned the robes of the tsar and religious garments, often using threads made of silver and gold. Over the centuries the metallic threads gave way to linen and colored silk. Russian lace gradually migrated from the realm of the elite to that of the common folk. Whether for display in a museum or active use in everyday activities, lace making is considered one of the most important types of Russian decorative art; as durable as it is decorative, it can be found on linens, festive attire, and work garments. Antique motifs included scenes of birds perched in flowering bushes, peacocks, and other highly elaborate images. Russian lace-making techniques are distinctly different from those used in neighboring Western Europe. Ribbon-tape is an integral part, and fewer bobbins are employed, allowing the design to be readily seen and understood as the piece evolves. This collaboration between two preeminent lace makers, Russian Anna Korableva and Briton Bridget Cook, clearly reveals the techniques step by step. Photos are provided for each finished piece, along with diagrams for the pricking patterns and placement of the Russian ribbon tape. Novice as well as experienced bobbin lace makers will find this collection indispensable. Instructions are provided in English, Dutch, French, and German, with over 150 illustrations and diagrams. Be sure to complete your library of lace patterns and methods with Bridget Cook's other lace making titles published by Echo Point Publishing: Russian Lace Making (ISBN 1648370284 hardcover, 1648370292 paperback) and The Torchon Lace Workbook (ISBN 1648370241 hardcover, 164837025X paperback). This book is also available from Echo Point Books in paperback (ISBN 1648370276).

Renaissance Patterns For Lace Embroidery And Needlepoint written by Federico Vinciolo and has been published by Courier Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1971-01-01 with Design categories.

Old Venetian lace has always been considered one of the high points of the textile arts, what with its imaginative design, technical brilliance, and universal appeal to all lands and times. It was the ancestor of most of the important laces that have since been made in Europe, and surviving specimens are the treasured possessions of the great museums of the world. Federico Vinciolo is one of the masters within this art. A leading Venetian designer, he was summoned in France to the court of Henry II, probably by Catherine de Medici, where he had the monopoly on manufacturing lace neck ruffs. In 1587 Vinciolo published a collection of his best patterns and designs, Les singuliers et nouveaux pourtraicts, which went through more than a dozen printings in France and Italy. It remains one of the basic books in the history of lace. For the modern needleworker who wishes to recapture the charm of this antique lace, Vinciolo's book offers 98 plates of fine patterns and designs in various techniques: needlepoint, darned netting, point coupé, counted thread work, and others. These include geometric forms, exuberant treatment of classical motives, Italian and Levantine designs, and mush else that the modern worker, able to pick out a pattern, can re-create. Most of this material is nowhere else available. Vinciolo's designs are also of interest to the graphic artist who wishes delicate yet forceful textile images.
