The number of teachers who rely on imitation only is decreasing, and the results obtained are steadily becoming more satisfactory. So, once, the world had continued in the darkness, a prey to Paganism, had not the feminine heart, better prepared for Christianity, been found the worthiest temple for its reception. Struck with a just sense of gratitude for his obligations to his benevolent Patronesses, the Author, far from considering himself entitled, listlessly to enjoy his success, does, and will ever, view it as an imperious command, laying upon him the task of a more persevering industry and renewed exertions.
