'This is a beautiful cookbook, full of joyous, life-enriching recipes. I love it.' Nigel Slater 'Its collection of foolproof, elegant recipes calls to mind Nigella Lawson at her best' Vogue A Table for Friends celebrates the joy of eating with friends and family, with over 100 simple and wonderfully inviting recipes that allow you to relax with your loved ones whilst the cooking takes care of itself. Drawing on years of cooking for more people than it ever seemed possible to squeeze into her kitchen, Sunday Times columnist and cookery author Skye McAlpine shares the secrets to her stylish and relaxed way of hosting, setting you up for success whether you're cooking for two or twenty. A Table for Friends has recipes for every occasion, from last-minute weeknight dinners to large celebratory gatherings. Skye's recipes fall into four chapters, Stars, Sides, Sweets and Extras, which allow you to intuitively plan a simple and impressive menu, and, because juggling oven space is one of the biggest challenges when cooking for a crowd, each chapter is ingeniously organised into Throw Together, On The Hob and In The Oven so your menu works best for your mood, your kitchen and your time. Alongside these beautiful, deliciously do-able recipes comes Skye's practical, fuss-free guidance for hosting a stress-free gathering, from what to cook in advance to how to lay the table beautifully, allowing you to step out of the kitchen and relax with your guests. For a super-easy roast why not try her Honey-roast poussins, Butter-&-sage roast pumpkin, Saffron fennel, A really good chicory salad with creamy mustard dressing and Winter fruit & mascarpone tart? Or for a wonderfully soothing pasta supper, Tagliatelle with gorgonzola, pear & walnut and Chocolate chestnut meringue cake is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. This is a cookbook to cook from: a helpful, approachable, down-to-earth kitchen companion that will give you the confidence to gather friends around your table and the inspiration to do so more often. Bestselling Lifeway Bible study author Kelly Minter is known not only for her passion for God’s Word, but for her ability to foster community over an inviting, delicious, and nourishing meal. Her own lifelong love for cooking and gardening paired with her many travels to the Amazon with chef Regina Pinto has resulted in rich spiritual and culinary experiences that will inspire your cooking and gatherings. More than an ordinary cookbook, A Place at the Table offers readers a chance to not only approach mealtimes with accessible recipes from a renowned chef, but also hear heartwarming, personal stories from Kelly herself and enjoy some spiritual encouragement too. For Kelly, meals should be more than just ingredients and décor, though these enhance the experience. Food has historically gathered people together, and in this cookbook, Kelly points readers to just that—opening their tables so others can have a place to experience the love of God and fellowship of his people. After all, some of the most meaningful moments in the Bible were experienced around food. This cookbook offers a delicious, unfussy selection of both well-known and novel dishes, and it also includes personal favorites from Kelly and Regina. Featuring fresh, whole or homegrown components, Kelly prioritizes the value of flavors that can only come with seasonal ingredients. As a bonus, there is supplemental material throughout, where the reader can hear more from Kelly and Regina about broths, seasonal drinks, canning, décor, growing herbs, and more. In these pages, Kelly’s humor and warmth shine through in each story, and the stunning photography inspires all readers to put their hand to the joy of cooking, offering others not just a meal, but a place to belong.

Around the Table with Pattiecake and Friends is a book of Poetry. Some of it is spirituality and at times you must understand it that way. There are poems of love and letting go. I do believe in true love, yet I seen my mother, hold on to a love that left her heart broken, confused, and almost destroyed her. She held on to what she thought was true love for thirty two years, so most of the love poems are written in connection of her and the love she lost. Some of the poems are from loss of friends and family, some from spirit of suicide that I fought a long time. If you are facing this please seek out help. You do have a story to tell and there is light in your storm. I hope and pray you will be inspired by my stories, poems, and heart. After all I am a survivor with a story to tell. May Gods hand be upon you and his mercies show you kindness.

Around The Table written by Jonathan P. Case and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-21 with Religion categories.

In these days of uncivil public discourse—complete with trolling, hater comments, CAPSLOCKING, and generally acting like jerks towards each other—talking graciously about anything is becoming a lost art. Throw religion into the mix (“Well, my Bible says . . . ”) and you’ve got one huge toxic mess. Is it possible for Christians to become more thoughtful and gracious conversation partners as we talk through our theological disagreements? How can we keep from throwing around the term heretic! every time someone disagrees with us? And remember, it’s a big world out there. If arguing with other Christians isn’t difficult enough, how do we think about engaging members of other religions? What’s the point of talking with them? They don’t know God anyway, right? Then there are all those agnostics and atheists, accusing believers of ignorance and calling for the end of religion. Why should we even want to talk with these people? Aren’t they our enemies? What can we possibly learn from them? In this book, Jonathan Case explores, from a Christian theological perspective, what’s at stake in these conversations and suggests how to keep people talking through their disagreements about that most volatile subject: God.
