From Angels To Aliens written by Lynn Schofield Clark and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-10-27 with Social Science categories.

Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Left Behind series are but the latest manifestations of American teenagers' longstanding fascination with the supernatural and the paranormal. In this groundbreaking book, Lynn Schofield Clark explores the implications of this fascination for contemporary religious and spiritual practices. Relying on stories gleaned from more than 250 in-depth interviews with teens and their families, Clark seeks to discover what today's teens really believe and why. She finds that as adherence to formal religious bodies declines, interest in alternative spiritualities as well as belief in "superstition" grow accordingly. Ironically, she argues, fundamentalist Christian alarmism about the forces of evil has also fed belief in a wider array of supernatural entities. Resisting the claim that the media "brainwash" teens, Clark argues that today's popular stories of demons, hell, and the afterlife actually have their roots in the U.S.'s religious heritage. She considers why some young people are nervous about supernatural stories in the media, while others comfortably and often unselfconsciously blur the boundaries between those stories of the realm beyond that belong to traditional religion and those offered by the entertainment media. At a time of increased religious pluralism and declining participation in formal religious institutions, Clark says, we must completely reexamine what young people mean--and what they may believe--when they identify themselves as "spiritual" or "religious." Offering provocative insights into how the entertainment media shape contemporary religious ideas and practices, From Angels to Aliens paints a surprising--and perhaps alarming--portrait of the spiritual state of America's youth.

Angels Or Aliens written by Yves W. Wolfe and has been published by tredition this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-21 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

In this groundbreaking exploration, author Yves W. Wolfe delves into the enigmatic nexus of mythology and extraterrestrial influences. "Angels or Aliens? The Celestial Roots of Our Myths" challenges the conventional interpretations of mythological narratives, proposing a bold hypothesis: what if the celestial beings known as angels, revered in many cultures, were actually visitors from beyond our planet? Wolfe embarks on a scholarly journey across time and space, from the ancient ziggurats of Sumer to the majestic pyramids of Egypt, each a testament to potential alien contact disguised as divine intervention. Through meticulous examination of ancient texts and modern archaeological discoveries, the book reveals patterns and anomalies that suggest a far more alien origin to these stories than previously believed. The book is not only an investigation into historical and religious myths but also a deeper inquiry into what these myths tell us about humanity's place in the cosmos. Wolfe's compelling narrative invites readers to reconsider the origins of our civilization and the possibility that we might not be alone in the universe. Join Yves W. Wolfe as he unravels the celestial tapestry woven with threads of alien encounters and divine legends. "Angels or Aliens?" is an essential read for anyone intrigued by the overlap between science fiction and ancient mythology, offering a new perspective on the age-old question of our celestial ancestry.

Angels And Aliens written by Keith Thompson and has been published by Fawcett this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Unidentified flying objects categories.

It was Carl Jung who first spoke of the UFO phenomenon as "a modern myth in the making," and Joseph Campbell who insisted that the first function of myths is "opening mind and heart to the utter wonder of all being." Now Keith Thompson makes it possible for us to share that sense of wonder as he explores the UFO against the timeless backdrop of visionary experience: angelic vision, near-death experiences, shamanic journeys, religious miracles, and folkloric encounters with fairies. In a brilliant stroke, Keith Thompson takes a subject usually confined to sensationalistic expose and reveals its surprising literary richness, intellectual energy, and symbolic depths. By offering a new, open-ended perspective which avoids the dogmatism of true believers and debunkers alike, Angels and Aliens invites readers to enter a fascinating world with profound implications for our understanding of the human spirit.

Origins of Evil is a study into the history of Evil, the hierarchy of these demons, and the connection to the UFO phenomena through genetic manipulation. Planet Earth is the domain of Satan and therefore rages a massive eternal battle of good verses evil with the Fallen Angels and their offspring, the Nephilim, against Mankind, Satan, and God. Included is a neoteric translation of the Testament of Solomon, showing the existence and practice of Demonology during biblical times and how those forces are still prevalent today. Evil does indeed exist and is all around us.

Join the journey and examine the mysterious physical remains present on earth that are being used to mount a new attack against Christianity. The reason for these ancient remains' existence here on this planet is explained using scripture. Angels or Aliens? explores giants, flying vehicles, and angels as they are discussed and explained in the Bible and how they relate to the coming assault against Christians everywhere by this new theological lie. This new false doctrine is explored, which is now being prepared and developed in order to replace the Theory of Evolution as the Godless answer to mankind's origin. This unique look at the modern world, from a biblical point of view, provides a positive Christian vision and reinforces the fact that God is in control and through Christ the victory is ours. In addition, through the process the reader is exposed to some possible end-time scenarios that they may not have previously imagined. After studying the media and the communication in which it engages, Brouillette has identified a systematic indoctrination that has taken place over the last sixty years, in the area of the existence of life on other planets, and Angels or Aliens? exposes this newest attack against the Christian belief that our world was created by God. Using scripture, this new humanist attack is debunked, and the relationship this new theory might have with end-times prophecy is exposed.
