Climate change, peak oil and economic instability aren't just future social problems -- they jeopardize our homes and families right now. Our once-abundant food supply is being threatened by toxic chemical agriculture, rising food prices and crop shortages brought on by climate change. Funding for education and health care is strained to the limit, and safe and affordable housing is disappearing. Depletion and Abundance explains how we are living beyond our means with or without a peak oil/climate change crisis and that, either way, we must learn to place our families and local communities at the center of our thinking once again. The author presents strategies to create stronger homes, better health and a richer family life and to live comfortably with an uncertain energy supply prepare children for a hotter, lower energy, less secure world survive and thrive in an economy in crisis, and maintain a kitchen garden to supply basic food needs. Most importantly, readers will discover that depletion can lead to abundance, and the anxiety of these uncertain times can be turned into a gift of hope and action. An unusual family perspective on the topic, this book will appeal to all those interested in securing a future for their children and grandchildren.

The Creative Austerity In Today S Advertising written by Art directors club italiano and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-02 with Business & Economics categories.

"Marketing and advertising jargon contains an abundance of military metaphors: mission, objective, strategy, target, campaign. Like on a battlefield, speed is essential: you have to deal with the conditions and the opportunities of the moment, without wasting time and without missing your aim. Swift by nature and by vocation, advertising provides clues often more accurate than other pop culture segments on the mood that prevails in the place and at the time it appears. So if, like what is happening now, we are bang in the middle of epoch-making transformations and changes, advertising becomes an effective mobile observatory, a periscope, a radar that can tell us where we are, where we are going and what lies ahead. This book presents a collection of ads chosen by the Art Directors Club Italiano not only for the profuse and powerful imaginativeness that has gone into them, but also their ability to X-ray the present. If an economic crisis must fatally correspond to a period of austerity, the hope is that it will be a ?creative? and fertile austerity, a generator of stimulating ideas rather than stereotypes. This was the theme given to the books 18 contributors, who analyse and comment on trends, languages, novelty and mannerisms from a variety of perspectives, not merely to take stock of advertising tout court but to investigate the relationships between economic austerity and the media, arts, fashion, technology, music, environment, social responsibility, and the future."--Publisher's description, http://www.skira.net/the-creative-austerity.html?___store=en&___from_store=default, viewed on March 25, 2014.

An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker is a compilation of excerpts of talks by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the year 1995 - 1996. They give us an insight into this knowledge that is so deeply profound, yet so simple, knowledge that does not just remain in the intellect, but is beautifully and effortlessly integrated into daily life. Sri Sri avoids lengthy discussions about the deeper philosophy of life, yet his talks reflect these values to their very core. Integrative Governance Generating Sustainable Responses To Global Crises written by Margaret Stout and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-20 with Law categories.

Dominant governance theories are drawn primarily from Euro-American sources, including emergent theories of network and collaborative governance. The authors contest this narrow view and seek a more globally inclusive and transdisciplinary perspective, arguing such an approach is more fruitful in addressing the wicked problems of sustainability—including social, economic, and environmental crises. This book thus offers and affirms an innovative governance approach that may hold more promise as a "universal" framework that is not colonizing in nature due to its grounding in relational process assumptions and practices. Using a comprehensive Governance Typology that encompasses ontological assumptions, psychosocial theory, epistemological concepts, belief systems, ethical concepts, political theory, economic theory, and administrative theory, the authors delve deeply into underlying philosophical commitments and carry them into practice through an approach they call Integrative Governance. The authors consider ways this approach to radical self-governance is already being implemented in the prefigurative politics of contemporary social movements, and they invite scholars and activists to: imagine governance in contexts of social, economic, and environmental interconnectedness; to use the ideal-type as an evaluative tool against which to measure practice; and to pursue paradigmatic change through collaborative praxis.

In this book, Sri Sri discusses topics ranging from doubt and fear to love and dispassion. He describes what it means to be on the spiritual path - a path of service, sadhana and surrender. He leads us through an understanding of God and back to our inner Self - what we really seek, often without knowing. "Some questions can only be answered in silence. Silence is the goal of all answers. If an answer does not silence the mind, it is no answer. Your soul is solidified silence and this solidified silence is wisdom, knowledge. When wisdom dawns, it gives rise to celebration." - H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

How do poets, writers and cultural critics contend with and represent the garden or their own gardening as they are changed by austerity? Gardening under austerity encompasses a diversity of places, spaces, practices, and actors: suburban allotments and zoological gardens, Victory diggers and urban foragers, human gardeners and the unruly more-than-human world. Theorizing the politics, poetics and practices of austerity gardening in twentieth and twenty-first century Anglophone cultural texts, The Poetics and Politics of Gardening in Hard Times explores the variegated impact of austerity in conjunction with the representation of the garden in the national context of England in the mid-century, and how garden imagery is embedded within and illuminates the political, economic, and social contexts of literary production.
