From Jerusalem To Beverly Hills written by Eitan Gonen and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This is a riveting story of the author's journey for survival as a war refugee and overcoming poverty. The story begins in Jerusalem as the British Empire crumbles and World War II ends. The ensuing turmoil in Palestine lead to Israel's War of Independence and the Arab siege of Jerusalem that shaped Eitan's childhood and the journey he travelled as a construction laborer, shepherd in a kibbutz, "Top Gun" fighter pilot in Israel Air Force, engineer for the Space Shuttle and a businessman in Beverly Hills. On his quest for independence and justice he endured family displacement, hunger, personal loss, and a government corruption scandal that nearly unraveled all he had worked to create. This compelling story, however, is ultimately one of triumph. Jerusalem, at once provincial and cosmopolitan, where lives of Christians, Jews and Arabs intermingle, is the colorful ground for a true story of a boy growing up during the tumultuous waning years of the British rule. The author describes scenes from the Arab-Israeli war, from a rare vantage point of a little boy, turned refugee in the ravaged city. As a teenager, he becomes a member of a socialist youth movement and joins his friends to establish a kibbutz. Toiling as a shepherd in the hills of Judea, and disappointed by the communal system, he leaves to join the Israel Air Force and becomes a fighter pilot. At the age of 22, he takes Dina, his wife, to Africa to create the newly independent Ghana Air Force. Fulfilling his lifelong dream, the author goes to America, but tragedy drives his young family back to Israel for eleven years. Following the Yom Kippur War, his keen sense of justice compels him to expose government corruption that inevitably teaches him that "no good deed goes unpunished," but at the end of the day makes him victorious. A memorable scene aboard an El Al flight provides an emotional end. Visit jerusalemtobeverlyhills.com

Discover the Jerusalem’s Undead trilogy in this 3-in-1 eBook bundle from author Eric Wilson. The suicide of Judas Iscariot in AD 30 left his blood seeping into the soil of the Field of Blood, in Aramaic the Akeldama. This tainted blood caused a counterfeit resurrection of the dead—the Collectors, who seek to corrupt and destroy. When Jesus was resurrected, ancient scripture says many rose from the grave. Today, 36 from this group of undead remain—the Nistarim, who are here to watch over the world and protect against the Collectors. Field of Blood follows Gina Lazarescu, a Romanian girl with a scarred past who has no idea she is being sought by these undead. Gina realizes her future will depend on her understanding of the past, yet how can she protect herself from Collectors who have already died once but still live? Gina’s journey continues in Haunt of Jackals. The Nistarim and the Collectors are after a single target—a boy named Pavel who may possess the key to the Collectors' unlimited power . . . or ultimate downfall. Gina has survived one battle with the undead already and is determined to protect Pavel at all costs. But she has no idea how long she can stay a step ahead of the Collectors. In the final installment of the Jerusalem's Undead Trilogy—Valley of Bones—readers will witness an epic showdown of a battle between good and evil that started with the suicide of Judas Iscariot. Gina Lazarescu's life has been on a collision course with the Akeldama Collectors. She knows she can't defeat them on her own, though, and that it will take the combined efforts of all Those Who Resist for this living evil to be stopped.

What is a pilgrimage? How is it different from any other kind of travel? Join the author as he seeks answers to these questions through journeys to the three most important destinations for Catholic travelers: Rome and Italy, the Shrine of Guadalupe in Mexico City, and the Holy Land. Share his adventures and misadventures in daily travelogues describing each trip from beginning to end, with extensive religious, historical, and cultural commentary. Those three destinations are only the beginning. Around the world and here in the United States, far and near, famous and obscure shrines and holy sites await your discovery. The author scouts out many such destinations and explores the phenomenon of "virtual pilgrimage." He concludes by offering practical advice how not to end up merely sightseeing. For Catholics considering a pilgrimage; for Protestants wondering why Catholics go on "pilgrimages" rather than "tours"; Catholic or Protestant, this book is for you! Maps, diagrams, and pictures included.

Is the Bible God’s Word? Yes. Is Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, and the only Mediator between a sinful people and a perfect, holy, and righteous God? Yes! Is the Christian faith supported by reasonable, provable, historical, archaeological, and philosophical evidence? Yes, yes, and yes! The word apologetics comes from two Greek words, apo (out from) and logos (logic), and it literally means to give out a logical defense (apologia). In Christianity, it means to give out logical reasons for our faith, to defend the truth of Scripture, and to give reasons for believing in Christ. Like Paul, I am “set for the defense (apologia) of the gospel” (Philippians 1:17). Like Peter, I am “ready always to give an answer (apologia)” to everyone who asks why I trust Christ (1 Peter 3:15). Like Jude, I am prepared to earnestly contend (epi-agnízomai: agonize, fight) for the faith (Jude 3). I have written this book to defend and contend for the Christian faith; I want to let others know why I believe the Bible is God’s Word and Jesus is God’s Son (2 Timothy 3:16; John 1:34).

Israeli Identities written by Yair Auron and has been published by Berghahn Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-30 with Social Science categories.

The question of identity is one of present-day Israel's cardinal and most pressing issues. In a comprehensive examination of the identity issue, this study focuses on attitudes toward the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora; the Holocaust and its repercussions on identity; attitudes toward the state of Israel and Zionism; and attitudes toward Jewish religion. Israeli Arab students (Israeli Palestinians) and Jewish Israeli students were asked corresponding questions regarding their identity. It was found that, rather than lessening its impact over the years, the Holocaust has become a major factor, at times the paramount factor in Jewish identity. Similarly, among Palestinians the Naqba has become a major factor in Palestinian-Israeli identity. However, the overall results show that the identity of a Jewish citizen of Israel is not purely Israeli, nor is it purely Jewish. It is, to varying degrees, a synthesis of Jewish and Israeli components, depending on the particular sub-groups or sub-identities. The same holds for Israeli-Arabs or Israeli-Palestinians who have neither a purely Israeli identity nor a purely Palestinian (or Arab) one.
