Deacon T. Ronald Wynne provides in this book a brief insight of the living conditions faced by young adults in inner city metropolitan areas. He has a heart to serve and puts his talents and passions to work in his community. Being available to listen, learn, and then respond to those in need has enabled Ron to capture their hearts for the glory of God. As an overseer in the nursing home ministry within the Mount Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries, Ron Wynne and others visit these facilities and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. By sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, the residents are inspired, uplifted, and encouraged in their faith and trust in God. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” —1 Peter 5:5 A battle rages within every one of us every day. It’s the clash between our sense of stubborn self-sufficiency and God’s call to recognize that we’re really nothing without Him. It’s pride versus humility. And it’s a fight we can’t win without looking repeatedly to Christ and the cross. C. J. Mahaney raises a battle cry to daily, diligently, and deliberately weaken our greatest enemy (pride) and cultivate our greatest friend (humility). His thorough examination clarifies misconceptions, revealing the truth about why God detests pride and turns His active attention to the humble. Because pride is never passive, defeating it demands an intentional attack. The blessing that follows is God’s abundant favor. “This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit.” —Isaiah 66:2, ESV God clearly states that He is drawn to the humble. He’s also clear that He opposes the proud. These two, humility and pride, cannot coexist. Where one is fostered, the other is defeated. Which will you pursue? When you acknowledge the deception of pride and intentionally humble yourself, you become free to savor abundant mercies and unlikely graces. You will find a new life is yours—a life God richly favors. A God-glorifying life you don’t want to miss.

Thomas Watson was a 17th-century minister at the church of St. Stephen Walbrook in London. As a pastor, he set himself two goals. First, he wanted unbelievers to grieve over their fate and realize the necessity of God's grace. On the other hand, he wanted believers to rejoice in the assurance that they had received God's grace. His books are simple but exciting commentaries with many practical examples and applications. He explains the paradox that both good and bad events contribute to the benefit of believers. He spends a great deal of time explaining what it means to love God and be called by His will. In this book, Watson manages to answer one of the most plaguing theological questions of all time: Why do bad things happen to good people? This eBook includes the following 14 volumes by Thomas Watson: Body of Practical Divinity The Ten Commandments The Lord's Prayer The Beatitudes The Godly Man's Picture The Art of Divine Contentment A Treatise Concerning Meditation The Great Gain of Godliness The Doctrine of Repentance The Mischief of Sin A Divine Cordial The Christian Soldier The Christian's Charter The Duty of Self-Denial

White Love And Other Events In Filipino History written by Vicente L. Rafael and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-18 with History categories.

In this wide-ranging cultural and political history of Filipinos and the Philippines, Vicente L. Rafael examines the period from the onset of U.S. colonialism in 1898 to the emergence of a Filipino diaspora in the 1990s. Self-consciously adopting the essay form as a method with which to disrupt epic conceptions of Filipino history, Rafael treats in a condensed and concise manner clusters of historical detail and reflections that do not easily fit into a larger whole. White Love and Other Events in Filipino History is thus a view of nationalism as an unstable production, as Rafael reveals how, under what circumstances, and with what effects the concept of the nation has been produced and deployed in the Philippines. With a focus on the contradictions and ironies that suffuse Filipino history, Rafael delineates the multiple ways that colonialism has both inhabited and enabled the nationalist discourse of the present. His topics range from the colonial census of 1903-1905, in which a racialized imperial order imposed by the United States came into contact with an emergent revolutionary nationalism, to the pleasures and anxieties of nationalist identification as evinced in the rise of the Marcos regime. Other essays examine aspects of colonial domesticity through the writings of white women during the first decade of U.S. rule; the uses of photography in ethnology, war, and portraiture; the circulation of rumor during the Japanese occupation of Manila; the reproduction of a hierarchy of languages in popular culture; and the spectral presence of diasporic Filipino communities within the nation-state. A critique of both U.S. imperialism and Filipino nationalism, White Love and Other Events in Filipino History creates a sense of epistemological vertigo in the face of former attempts to comprehend and master Filipino identity. This volume should become a valuable work for those interested in Southeast Asian studies, Asian-American studies, postcolonial studies, and cultural studies.

Luke written by Mary H. Schertz and has been published by MennoMedia, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-27 with Religion categories.

Luke is a gospel of joy, amazement, and warmth. From the jubilant birth narrative and Magnificat at the beginning to the wonder of the ascension at the end, Luke offers a matchless portrait of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and those who followed him. In the 36th volume in the Believers Church Bible Commentary series, New Testament scholar Mary H. Schertz helps readers inhabit the pages of the third gospel, replete with parables and paradoxes and ministries of mercy. In vibrant writing and with careful exegesis, Schertz invites readers to investigate for themselves the surprise, light, and awe of the kingdom of God, in which people find healing, the marginalized find welcome, and the poor find flourishing. Schertz traces the motifs of holy warrior and suffering servant that confronted every first-century Jew, including Jesus, and that still shape the church today. Through it all, Luke demonstrates both the cost of the kingdom and the exuberance of a life lived in loyalty to Jesus and the strength of the Spirit. About the Believers Church Bible Commentary series This readable commentary series is for all who seek more fully to understand the original message of Scripture and its meaning for today—Sunday school teachers, members of Bible study groups, students, pastors, and other seekers. —From the Series Forword
