An epic fantasy with rich world-building and a wry take on genre conventions from a Betty Trask Award-winning author -- Inar is Master Builder for the Kingdom of Mishig-Tenh. Life is hard after the Kingdom lost the war against the League of Free Cities. Doubly so since his father betrayed the King and paid the ultimate price. And now the King’s terrifying chancellor and torturer in chief has arrived and instructed Inar to go and work for the League. And to spy for him. And any builder knows you don’t put yourself between a rock and a hard place. Far away Anton, Blade Priest for Craithe, the God Mountain, is about to be caught up in a vicious internal war that will tear his religion apart. Chosen from infancy to conduct human sacrifice, he is secretly relieved that the practice has been abruptly stopped. But an ancient enemy has returned, an occult conspiracy is unfolding, and he will struggle to keep his hands clean in a world engulfed by bloodshed. In a series of constantly surprising twists and turns that take the reader through a vividly imagined and original world full of familiar tensions and surprising perspectives on old tropes, Inar and Anton find that others in their story may have more influence on their lives, on the future of the League and on their whole world than they, or the reader imagined. Perhaps people have spoken words about you that sound a lot like what Nathaniel said about Nazareth, “Can anything good come from her?” Thankfully, the answer is the same today as it was two thousand years ago. Absolutely YES! God sees significance where the world sees insignificance. He sees potential where others see nothing. Where others see no hope, he speaks new life. He sees beyond the standards the world uses to judge people, and he focuses on the heart. He looks beyond the labels others have placed on you and he calls you, “My precious daughter.” Find in Jesus the significance your heart is searching for.

TWO PLAYS ABOUT ISRAEL/PALESTINE "Arthur Milner's plays are always smart, engaging and contemporary. Milner is a man of his times who never talks down to his audience, even as he courts and incites strong reactions. We forgive him, though because he entertains us with clever and funny characters. He seems incapable of writing a character without a sense of humour." -Patrick McDonald MASADA "theatre stripped to its essence...a challenging piece of work...factually fascinating and a skillful piece of writing...driven by a powerful and frightening logic." -Jill Lawless, Now Magazine "one of the greatest examples of artistic moral courage I've ever witnessed...leads its audience onto very slippery moral ground and leaves the viewer to grope for his or her own answers...Writing and stagin Masada was an act of moral courage." -Brian Gorman, Ottawa Sun FACTS> "riveting...Milner has dared tackle one of the most difficult and explosive political questions on earth...a strong will, a confident pen, clear thinking, a well-informed human being, and a writer passionately engaged...This is a powerful play." -Alvina Ruprecht, Capital Critics Circle "Facts is a stimulating and provocative piece of theatre which delivers a fascinating political and philosophical debate without reducing the characters to talking heads." -Jamie Portman, Postmedia News

Tolerance And Intolerance In Early Judaism And Christianity written by Graham Stanton and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-05-28 with Religion categories.

The essays in this book consider issues of tolerance and intolerance faced by Jews and Christians between approximately 200 BCE and 200 CE. Several chapters are concerned with many different aspects of early Jewish-Christian relationships. Five scholars, however, take a difference tack and discuss how Jews and Christians defined themselves against the pagan world. As minority groups, both Jews and Christians had to work out ways of co-existing with their Graeco-Roman neighbours. Relationships with those neighbours were often strained, but even within both Jewish and Christian circles, issues of tolerance and intolerance surfaced regularly. So it is appropriate that some other contributors should consider 'inner-Jewish' relationships, and that some should be concerned with Christian sects.
