Numerical Methods And Implementation In Geotechnical Engineering Part 2 written by Y.M. Cheng and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Numerical Methods and Implementation in Geotechnical Engineering explains several numerical methods that are used in geotechnical engineering. The second part of this reference set includes more information on the distinct element method, geotechnical optimization analysis and reliability analysis. Information about relevant additional numerical methods is also provided in each chapter with problems where applicable. The authors have also presented different computer programs associated with the materials in this book set which will be useful to students learning how to apply the models explained in the text into practical situations when designing structures in locations with specific soil and rock settings. This reference book set is a suitable textbook primer for civil engineering students as it provides a basic introduction to different numerical methods (classical and modern) in comprehensive readable volumes.

Discontinuous Deformation Analysis In Rock Mechanics Practice written by Yossef H. Hatzor and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The numerical, discrete element, Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) method was developed by Dr. Gen-hua Shi while he was working at the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of Prof. Richard E. Goodman in the late 1980s. Two-dimensional DDA was published in 1993 and three-dimensional DDA in 2001. Since its publication DDA has been verified, validated and applied in numerous studies worldwide and is now considered a powerful and robust method to address both static and dynamic engineering problems in discontinuous rock masses. In this book Yossef H. Hatzor and Guowei Ma, co-chairs of the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) Commission on DDA, join Dr. Shi in authoring a monograph that presents the state of the art in DDA research. A comprehensive discussion of DDA development since its publication is provided in Chapter 1, followed by concise reviews of 2D and 3D DDA in chapters 2 and 3. Procedures to select geological and numerical input parameters for DDA are discussed in Chapter 4, and DDA validation and verification is presented in Chapter 5. Applications of DDA in underground and rock slope engineering projects are discussed in chapters 6 and 7. In Chapter 8 the novel contact theory recently developed by Dr. Shi is published in its complete form, for the first time. This book is published within the framework of the ISRM Book Series and is the contribution of the ISRM DDA Commission to the international rock mechanics community.

Instability Mechanism And Disaster Prevention Of The Jointed Rockmass written by Shuren Wang and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-06-13 with Science categories.
Discontinuities such as cracks, fissures, bedding planes, etc. resulting from different geological processes are commonly found in rock masses and often play a critical role in the initiation, propagation, and coalescence of new cracks due to stress redistribution caused by engineering activities and natural disturbances. It is challenging to determine the instability mechanism of jointed rock masses but it is vital for estimating instability disasters in jointed rock engineering.
