Así, en octubre de 2014 tuvieron lugar los XX Coloquios Alfonso IX, dedicados en esta ocasión a «Fuentes, archivos y bibliotecas para una historia de las Universidades Hispánicas». Era un número redondo pero también un momento oportuno, ya que parecía que se ponía fin a un ciclo o se daba inicio a otro, según se piense, y por ello pareció conveniente dedicar estos Coloquios a las fuentes documentales para una investigación en nuestro ámbito de especialización. Y ello no tanto porque dichas fuentes constituyan el soporte a los estudios realizados, sino porque también lo serán de los que quedan por realizar. Por tanto, es importante conocer las distintas posibilidades que brindan los fondos custodiados en distintos archivos y bibliotecas de referencia, para poder abrir nuevas líneas de investigación en historia de las universidades que completen o desarrollen las ya existentes. Como también lo es conocer la historia de los propios archivos y bibliotecas que guardan los documentos, ya que ayudará a explicar la realidad de los libros y documentos que contienen. E interesa, desde el punto de vista metodológico, familiarizarnos con las aportaciones instrumentales de las disciplinas documentales a la historia universitaria, en cuanto facilitan el acceso a las fuentes de información, permiten recuperar dicha información y facilitan la difusión o visibilidad de la producción científica que parta de las mismas fuentes documentales. Porque tan importante es producir conocimiento como darlo a conocer. Y todo ello en el marco cronológico de la Edad Moderna, en el que la historia cultural y universitaria se proyectaba ya de forma interterritorial, lo que hacía posible la realización de estudios globales y comparativos.

[es] Dos son los objetivos que nos planteamos: por un lado, descifrar la importancia de la documentación científica para la investigación en Historia de las Universidades. Ello nos obligará, por un lado, a analizar sucintamente su concepto, sus diferentes perspectivas y examinar las fases del proceso informativo documental. Y en segundo lugar, sugerir diversas acciones y procedimientos documentales que consideramos relevantes para la investigación en Historia de las Universidades, ya sea como apoyo al crecimiento de los conocimientos científicos históricos en cuanto proveedora de fuentes de información, ya sea como apoyo a la difusión de los hallazgos científicos mediante técnicas documentales que desarrollan instrumentos que permiten dar a conocer de modo rápido y eficaz las informaciones científicas. Presentaremos, en este sentido, como primicia a modo de anexo la estructura jerárquica de un tesauro ad hoc para la Historia de las Universidades, cuya investigación completa merece otro lugar. En definitiva, lo que pretendemos es analizar la función informativa y dilucidar las bases para la creación de un proceso informativo-documental, de inexcusable obligatoriedad para un mayor despliegue en la investigación de la Historia de las Universidades. En otros términos, examinar, siquiera someramente, el alcance de las técnicas documentales para llevar a cabo la recuperación y difusión de la información, todo ello encaminado a la necesidad ineludible para la investigación de un Sistema de Información Histórica de las Universidades Hispánicas. [en] Two objectives were posited for this study. First, to decipher the importance of document science in researching the History of Universities. This obliges us on one hand to make a succinct analysis of its concept and its different perspectives, and to examine the stages of the documentary information process. Secondly, we wished to suggest different documentary procedures and actions that we consider relevant for research in this field, both as support for increasing scientific historical knowledge inasmuch as it can provide information sources, and as support for the divulgation of scientific findings through documentary techniques that develop instruments that in turn can allow us to attain scientific information quickly and effectively. We thus present the first appearance of the hierarchical structure of an ad hoc thesaurus for university history in the form of an appendix, the complete investigation of which merits further description elsewhere. In short, what we are attempting to do is analyse the informative function and elucidate the foundations for creating an informational-documentary process, essential for a greater deployment of research into university history. In other words, to examine, at least superficially, the scope of documentary techniques for recovering and disseminating information, all of which is addressed to researchers’ inexorable need for a System of Historical Information on Hispanic Universities.

[en] The forms, techniques, normative stipulations and practices of university teaching for the dissemination of research have changed since the ancien régime. Towards the contemporary age we can observe innovation and greater cooperation among research communities –invisible colleges– as well as visibility in scientific research. The interest of this article is focused, first of all, on the invisible colleges that form in the research communities of university history, and secondly, on analysing current techniques for visibility. These questions are related to professors and their teams in order to attain greater dissemination of research works and cooperation with a view to maximising influence on their community and increasing the citations of their works.
