Although in nature the vast majority of polymers are condensation polymers, much publicity has been focused on functionalized vinyl polymers. Functional Condensation Polymers fulfills the need to explore these polymers which form an increasingly important and diverse foundation in the search for new materials in the twentyfirst century. Some of the advantages condensation polymers hold over vinyl polymers include offering different kinds of binding sites, their ability to be made biodegradable, and their different reactivities with various reagents under diverse reaction conditions. They also offer better tailoring of end-products, different tendencies (such as fiber formation), and different physical and chemical properties. Some of the main areas emphasized include dendrimers, control release of drugs, nanostructure materials, controlled biomedical recognition, and controllable electrolyte and electrical properties.

Synthesis of tailor-made functional polymers with controlled architecture is very challenging. The functional groups present in the monomer often either prevent polymerisation or lead to several side reactions. In this regard, reversible deactivation radical polymerisation (RDRP) techniques are useful tools to prepare macromolecular architectures with controlled molecular weight, architecture, and narrow dispersity. This book delineates the advances in the area of RDRP to prepare functional polymers for a wide range of applications like in self-healing, oil- and water-resistant coatings, controlled drug delivery systems and so on. The worthy contribution from renowned experts working in the area of RDRP makes this book invaluable to researchers in these important areas such as:Introduction and historical development of RDRP.Polymer-nanohybrid materials.Telechelic polymers with controlled end functionality.Functional polymers via a combination of RDRP and 'click' chemistry.Fluorinated polymers.Polymers for biomedical applications. The book will be of prime interest for polymer scientists as well as material scientists dealing with functional polymer synthesis for different applications. It will also be a good source of knowledge for researchers working on functional polymeric materials and their composites.

26th International Congress of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Volume 5: Macromolecular Chemistry is a collection of session lectures presented at the 26th International Congress of Pure and Applied Chemistry, held in Tokyo, Japan on September 4-10, 1977. This volume is divided into nine chapters and starts with an examination of the photomechanical effects in photochromic systems. The succeeding chapters deal with the synthesis and characterization of polyquinolines; the general concept of "no catalyst alternating copolymerization; the synthesis of various condensation polymers with functional groups, such as ether, hydroxyl, epoxy; or formal groups; and the application of excited state quenching to macromolecular photostabilization. These topics are followed by discussions of the viscoelastic properties of dilute polymer solutions and the developments in the use of polymers as reactants in organic reactions. The last chapters consider the determination of the helix-coil stability constants of the naturally occurring amino acids using random copolymers. These chapters also examine the structure and dynamics of solid polymers using elastic and inelastic neutron scattering. This book will prove useful to polymer chemists, researchers, and students.

The progress in polymer science is revealed in the chapters of Polymer Science: A Comprehensive Reference, Ten Volume Set. In Volume 1, this is reflected in the improved understanding of the properties of polymers in solution, in bulk and in confined situations such as in thin films. Volume 2 addresses new characterization techniques, such as high resolution optical microscopy, scanning probe microscopy and other procedures for surface and interface characterization. Volume 3 presents the great progress achieved in precise synthetic polymerization techniques for vinyl monomers to control macromolecular architecture: the development of metallocene and post-metallocene catalysis for olefin polymerization, new ionic polymerization procedures, and atom transfer radical polymerization, nitroxide mediated polymerization, and reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer systems as the most often used controlled/living radical polymerization methods. Volume 4 is devoted to kinetics, mechanisms and applications of ring opening polymerization of heterocyclic monomers and cycloolefins (ROMP), as well as to various less common polymerization techniques. Polycondensation and non-chain polymerizations, including dendrimer synthesis and various "click" procedures, are covered in Volume 5. Volume 6 focuses on several aspects of controlled macromolecular architectures and soft nano-objects including hybrids and bioconjugates. Many of the achievements would have not been possible without new characterization techniques like AFM that allowed direct imaging of single molecules and nano-objects with a precision available only recently. An entirely new aspect in polymer science is based on the combination of bottom-up methods such as polymer synthesis and molecularly programmed self-assembly with top-down structuring such as lithography and surface templating, as presented in Volume 7. It encompasses polymer and nanoparticle assembly in bulk and under confined conditions or influenced by an external field, including thin films, inorganic-organic hybrids, or nanofibers. Volume 8 expands these concepts focusing on applications in advanced technologies, e.g. in electronic industry and centers on combination with top down approach and functional properties like conductivity. Another type of functionality that is of rapidly increasing importance in polymer science is introduced in volume 9. It deals with various aspects of polymers in biology and medicine, including the response of living cells and tissue to the contact with biofunctional particles and surfaces. The last volume is devoted to the scope and potential provided by environmentally benign and green polymers, as well as energy-related polymers. They discuss new technologies needed for a sustainable economy in our world of limited resources. Provides broad and in-depth coverage of all aspects of polymer science from synthesis/polymerization, properties, and characterization methods and techniques to nanostructures, sustainability and energy, and biomedical uses of polymers Provides a definitive source for those entering or researching in this area by integrating the multidisciplinary aspects of the science into one unique, up-to-date reference work Electronic version has complete cross-referencing and multi-media components Volume editors are world experts in their field (including a Nobel Prize winner)

Mechanism Of Organic Reactions written by Ajnish Kumar Gupta and has been published by Ajnish Kumar Gupta this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-05 with Science categories.
The guiding principle in writing this book was to create a textbook for students- a textbook that presents the material in a way that they learn to solve all the questions along with the strategy to approach the problems. In this book we mixed all our teaching experience of 15 years along with theoretical and experimental knowledge to generate a hand book for all students to reason their way to a solution rather than memorize a multitude of facts, hoping they don’t run out of memory. This book covers mainly 6 units with 59 sections which are real concepts of Organic chemistry, which involves Chemical reactions which a students must know in dealing any chemical reactions. Organic chemistry is very easy and conceptual subject and need proper understanding of the basics and strategy to solve the questions in correct manner. This book will prepare your right mindset for learning Organic Chemistry. This mindset is essentially the one that focuses you on a small number of straight forward, repeated, fundamental concepts and helps you to apply them in different ways to solve the variety of problems you face in organic chemistry. This book is complete as it not only covers theory in proper sequence but also provide varieties of questions along with 12 test papers to judge your knowledge before going to start chemical reactions. In this book balance has to be achieved between the number of questions and the quality of the questions, especially because it is relatively easy to frame a very large number of multiple-choice questions and theory of the subject. The questions in this book have been selected keeping three things in mind. First- the questions are such that they really test the understanding of the subject. Second- the questions cover all concepts. Third- the number of questions has been kept large enough to offer meaningful practice to the students.
