The book deals with the most accurate method to describe thermodynamic property data, with empirical multiparameter equations of state. Due to new theoretical approaches, to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data, and to increasing computer power such equations became a valuable tool for every day calculations in scientific and engineering applications, rather than just the basis of printed property charts and tables. The book is dedicated both to users, who apply such formulations either in form of commercially available software or in form of programs written by themselves, and to scientists engaged in the development of empirical equations of state. Starting from a brief history, it covers the fundamentals of this subject as well as the most recent developments in the fields of highly accurate reference equations, of equations for advanced technical applications, and of the description of mixtures with multiparameter equations of state.

This title covers a wide range of topics related to the Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) behavior of complex hydrocarbon systems and documents the ability of Equations of State (EOS) in modeling their behavior. The main objective of this book is to provide the practicing engineer and engineering student with tools needed to solve problems that require a description of the PVT of hydrocarbon systems from their compositions. Because of the dramatic evolution in computational capabilities, petroleum engineers can now study such phenomena as the development of miscibility during gas injection, compositional gradient as a function of depth and the behavior near critical hydrocarbon systems with more sophisticated EOS models.

Thermodynamics is the much abused slave of many masters • physicists who love the totally impractical Carnot process, • mechanical engineers who design power stations and refrigerators, • chemists who are successfully synthesizing ammonia and are puzzled by photosynthesis, • meteorologists who calculate cloud bases and predict föhn, boraccia and scirocco, • physico-chemists who vulcanize rubber and build fuel cells, • chemical engineers who rectify natural gas and distil f- mented potato juice, • metallurgists who improve steels and harden surfaces, • - trition counselors who recommend a proper intake of calories, • mechanics who adjust heat exchangers, • architects who construe – and often misconstrue – ch- neys, • biologists who marvel at the height of trees, • air conditioning engineers who design saunas and the ventilation of air plane cabins, • rocket engineers who create supersonic flows, et cetera. Not all of these professional groups need the full depth and breadth of ther- dynamics. For some it is enough to consider a well-stirred tank, for others a s- tionary nozzle flow is essential, and yet others are well-served with the partial d- ferential equation of heat conduction. It is therefore natural that thermodynamics is prone to mutilation; different group-specific meta-thermodynamics’ have emerged which serve the interest of the groups under most circumstances and leave out aspects that are not often needed in their fields.

Fundamentals Of Algebraic Specification 1 written by Hartmut Ehrig and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.
The aim of this book is to present fundamentals of algebraic specifications with respect to the following three aspects: fundamentals in the sense of a carefully motivated introduction to algebraic specifications, which is easy to understand for computer scientists and mathematicians; fundamentals in the sense of mathematical theories which are the basis for precise definitions, constructions, results, and correctness proofs; and fundamentals in the sense of concepts, which are introduced on a conceptual level and formalized in mathematical terms. The book is equally suitableas a text book for graduate courses and as a reference for researchers and system developers.

Fundamentals Of Solid State Engineering written by Manijeh Razeghi and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-06-12 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering, 2nd Edition, provides a multi-disciplinary introduction to Solid State Engineering, combining concepts from physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, materials science and mechanical engineering. Basic physics concepts are introduced, followed by a thorough treatment of the technology for solid state engineering. Topics include compound semiconductor bulk and epitaxial thin films growth techniques, current semiconductor device processing and nano-fabrication technologies. Examples of semiconductor devices and a description of their theory of operation are then discussed, including transistors, semiconductor lasers and photodetectors. Revised throughout, this second edition includes new chapters on the reciprocal lattice, optical properties of semiconductors, semiconductor heterostructures, semiconductor characterization techniques, and an introduction to lasers. Additions and improvements have been made to the material on photodetectors and quantum mechanics as well as to the problem sections.

The Thermodynamics Of Phase And Reaction Equilibria written by Ismail Tosun and has been published by Newnes this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-31 with Science categories.
This book provides a sound foundation for understanding abstract concepts of phase and reaction equilibria (e.g. partial molar Gibbs energy, fugacity, and activity), and shows how to apply these concepts to solve practical problems using numerous clear examples. It also presents numerical methods necessary for solving real-world problems as well the basic mathematics needed, facilitating its use as a self-study reference work. In the example problems requiring MATHCAD® for the solution, the results of the intermediate steps are given, enabling the reader to easily track mistakes and understand the order of magnitude of the various quantities involved. - Clear layout, coherent and logical organization of the content, and presentation suitable for self-study - Provides analytical equations in dimensionless form for the calculation of changes in internal energy, enthalpy, and entropy as well as departure functions and fugacity coefficients - Includes up-to-date information, comprehensive in-depth content and current examples in each chapter - Includes many well organized problems (with answers), which are extensions of the examples enabling conceptual understanding for quantitative/real problem solving - Includes the mathematical background required for solving problems encountered in phase and reaction equilibria

"Molecular Sieves - Science and Technology" covers, in a comprehensive manner, the science and technology of zeolites and all related microporous and mesoporous materials. Authored by renowned experts, the contributions to this handbook-like series are grouped together topically in such a way that each volume deals with a specific sub-field. Volume 7 is treating fundamentals and analyses of adsorption and diffusion in zeolites including single-file diffusion, i.e. phenomena of basic importance, especially with respect to separation processes and catalysis. Various methods of measuring adsorption and diffusion are described and discussed, i.e. techniques such as chromatographic, gravimetric and barometric uptake and desorption, nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy, interference microscopy, neutron scattering, frequency response as well as proton profiling.

Fundamentals Of Shock Wave Propagation In Solids written by Lee Davison and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-04-24 with Science categories.
My intent in writing this book is to present an introduction to the thermo- chanical theory required to conduct research and pursue applications of shock physics in solid materials. Emphasis is on the range of moderate compression that can be produced by high-velocity impact or detonation of chemical exp- sives and in which elastoplastic responses are observed and simple equations of state are applicable. In the interest of simplicity, the presentation is restricted to plane waves producing uniaxial deformation. Although applications often - volve complex multidimensional deformation fields it is necessary to begin with the simpler case. This is also the most important case because it is the usual setting of experimental research. The presentation is also restricted to theories of material response that are simple enough to permit illustrative problems to be solved with minimal recourse to numerical analysis. The discussions are set in the context of established continuum-mechanical principles. I have endeavored to define the quantities encountered with some care and to provide equations in several convenient forms and in a way that lends itself to easy reference. Thermodynamic analysis plays an important role in continuum mechanics, and I have included a presentation of aspects of this subject that are particularly relevant to shock physics. The notation adopted is that conventional in expositions of modern continuum mechanics, insofar as possible, and variables are explained as they are encountered. Those experienced in shock physics may find some of the notation unconventional.
