Fundamentals Of Quantum Physics written by Pedro Pereyra and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-11-28 with Science categories.

This book presents a comprehensive course of quantum mechanics for undergraduate and graduate students. After a brief outline of the innovative ideas that lead up to the quantum theory, the book reviews properties of the Schrödinger equation, the quantization phenomena and the physical meaning of wave functions. The book discusses, in a direct and intelligible style, topics of the standard quantum formalism like the dynamical operators and their expected values, the Heisenberg and matrix representation, the approximate methods, the Dirac notation, harmonic oscillator, angular momentum and hydrogen atom, the spin-field and spin-orbit interactions, identical particles and Bose-Einstein condensation etc. Special emphasis is devoted to study the tunneling phenomena, transmission coefficients, phase coherence, energy levels splitting and related phenomena, of interest for quantum devices and heterostructures. The discussion of these problems and the WKB approximation is done using the transfer matrix method, introduced at a tutorial level. This book is a textbook for upper undergraduate physics and electronic engineering students.

Fundamentals Of Quantum Optics And Quantum Information written by Peter Lambropoulos and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-30 with Science categories.

This book is an introduction to the two closely related subjects of quantum optics and quantum information. The book gives a simple, self-contained introduction to both subjects, while illustrating the physical principles of quantum information processing using quantum optical systems. To make the book accessible to those with backgrounds other than physics, the authors also include a brief review of quantum mechanics. Furthermore, some aspects of quantum information, for example those pertaining to recent experiments on cavity QED and quantum dots, are described here for the first time in book form.

Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics, Third Edition is a clear and detailed introduction to quantum mechanics and its applications in chemistry and physics. All required math is clearly explained, including intermediate steps in derivations, and concise review of the math is included in the text at appropriate points. Most of the elementary quantum mechanical models—including particles in boxes, rigid rotor, harmonic oscillator, barrier penetration, hydrogen atom—are clearly and completely presented. Applications of these models to selected “real world topics are also included. This new edition includes many new topics such as band theory and heat capacity of solids, spectroscopy of molecules and complexes (including applications to ligand field theory), and small molecules of astrophysical interest. Accessible style and colorful illustrations make the content appropriate for professional researchers and students alike Presents results of quantum mechanical calculations that can be performed with readily available software Provides exceptionally clear discussions of spin-orbit coupling and group theory, and comprehensive coverage of barrier penetration (quantum mechanical tunneling) that touches upon hot topics, such as superconductivity and scanning tunneling microscopy Problems given at the end of each chapter help students to master concepts

Atomic physics and its underlying quantum theory are the point of departure for many modern areas of physics, astrophysics, chemistry, biology, and even electrical engineering. This textbook provides a careful and eminently readable introduction to the results and methods of empirical atomic physics. The student will acquire the tools of quantum physics and at the same time learn about the interplay between experiment and theory. A chapter on the quantum theory of the chemical bond provides the reader with an introduction to molecular physics. Plenty of problems are given to elucidate the material. The authors also discuss laser physics and nonlinear spectroscopy, incorporating latest experimental results and showing their relevance to basic research. Extra items in the second edition include solutions to the exercises, derivations of the relativistic Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations, a detailed theoretical derivation of the Lamb shift, a discussion of new developments in the spectroscopy of inner shells, and new applications of NMR spectroscopy, for instance tomography.

How can you exist in two different places at the same time? How is it possible for your pet dog to be alive and dead at the same time? Answers to both of the questions mentioned above are possible in the mysterious world of quantum physics. If Quantum Physics is correct, it signifies the end of physics as a science. (Albert Einstein) When you start looking at Quantum Physics from a beginner's perspective, this isn't really easy. Quantum Physics or Quantum Mechanics is complex, and most of the time, professional physicists can face a difficult time trying to understand any concept of Quantum Physics or Quantum Mechanics. As far as my opinion is concerned, there are some basic concepts and features of Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics around which the entire theory of Quantum revolves. If you start understanding these concepts, you will find quantum physics really simple to understand at the beginner's level. As we already know that our entire universe is made up of billions of particles, particles can form the waves. Both of the particles and waves correlate and coexist. Quantum physics also pushes us out of the boundaries of what we already know about reality, science, and the universe. Quantum physics is no less than a mystery, where quantum particles can act weird and do wonderful things and can act differently to the objects we observe and experience in our daily life. In this book, you'll learn the basics of Quantum Physics, such as: Quantized Properties of the Matter Building Blocks of our Universe How Quantum Physics acts in our Daily Lives Black Body Radiation Black Body Emission Rutherford Experiment Double-Slit Experiment Bohr's Atomic Model The Photo-Electric Effect Frank-Hertz Experiment Heisenberg's Uncertainty Law The Time-Energy Uncertainty Quantum Super Position The Quantum Tunneling Start exploring - scroll up and get your book today!

Providing a unified account of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics, Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics covers the principles and formalism of quantum mechanics and the development and application of general techniques for the solution of quantum mechanical problems. The author has done everything possible to make the math in this book accessible. The book is divided into three parts. The first part provides the historical basis and mathematical foundations on nonrelativistic quantum theory. The physical systems considered in this part are mainly in one dimension. The second part covers the fundamentals of quantum theory in three dimensions. Many-particle systems, the motion of a particle in three dimensions, angular and spin momenta, interaction of a charged particle with external fields, and matrix mechanical formulation of quantum mechanics are discussed in this part. The third part contains the approximation methods used in quantum mechanics and scattering theory. Carefully designed to cover the entire topic, the book provides sufficient breadth and depth both to familiarize readers with the basic ideas and mathematical expressions of quantum mechanics and to form the basis for deeper understanding.

Authored by an acclaimed teacher of quantum physics and philosophy, this textbook pays special attention to the aspects that many courses sweep under the carpet. Traditional courses in quantum mechanics teach students how to use the quantum formalism to make calculations. But even the best students - indeed, especially the best students - emerge rather confused about what, exactly, the theory says is going on, physically, in microscopic systems. This supplementary textbook is designed to help such students understand that they are not alone in their confusions (luminaries such as Albert Einstein, Erwin Schroedinger, and John Stewart Bell having shared them), to sharpen their understanding of the most important difficulties associated with interpreting quantum theory in a realistic manner, and to introduce them to the most promising attempts to formulate the theory in a way that is physically clear and coherent. The text is accessible to students with at least one semester of prior exposure to quantum (or "modern") physics and includes over a hundred engaging end-of-chapter "Projects" that make the book suitable for either a traditional classroom or for self-study.
