Following on from previous publications in 1997, 2000 and 2003, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) presents its fourth "Funding Ranking", an overview of the distribution of awards to universities and non-university research institutions in Germany. The scope of the report has increased considerably compared to previous editions. Alongside the report's central indicator - DFG awards per individual research institution - the document also covers a wide range of additional indicators regarding publicly financed research in one of the world's leading industrial countries. For the first time, the report also includes information on R&D funding for selected federal programmes, for thematic priorities within the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme, and for collaborative industrial research funded by the German Federation of Industrial Cooperative Research Associations "Otto von Guericke". The third party funding indicators, which each depict individual aspects of publicly financed research, represent in total approximately 80 percent of all public third party funding for university research.

This book discusses many key topics in investment and risk management, the global economic situation and the shift in global investment strategies. It was largely written during the period of 2007-12, one of the most tumultuous times in global financial markets which called into question not only tenets of economic forecasting and also asset allocation and return strategies. It contains studies of how investors lose money in derivative markets, examples of those who did not and how these disasters could have been prevented. The authors draw some conclusions on the impact of the structural shifts currently underway in the global economy as well as how cyclical trends will affect these industries, the globe and key sectors. The authors zoom in on key growth areas, including emerging markets, their interlinkages and financial trends. The book also covers risk arbitrage and mean reversion strategies in financial and sports betting markets, plus incentives, volatility aspects, risk taking and investments strategies used by hedge funds and university endowments. Topics such as stock market crash predictions, asset liability planning models, various players in financial markets and the evaluation of the greatest investors are also discussed. The book presents tools and case studies of real applications for analyzing a wide variety of investment returns and better assessing the risks which many investors have preferred to ignore in the search of returns. Many security market regularities or anomalies are discussed including political party and January effects as is the process of building scenarios and using Kelly and fractional Kelly strategies to optimize returns. The purpose of this annual report is to develop an index of good humanitarian donorship that will measure donors' effectiveness against their commitment to the Principles and Good Practise of Humanitarian Donorship. The index is intended to help the international donor community to better understand its strengths and weaknesses in order to improve the efficiency and quality of its donor activities and initiatives. The index is also expected to raise awareness about the increasingly important role of humanitarian action and associated good practices beyond its current core constituencies. We believe that this report offers significant potential to improve the quality of humanitarian aid, benefiting those most affected by both man-made and natural disasters.

Jeb Bush written by Robert E. Crew and has been published by University Press of America this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-12-02 with Education categories.

Jeb Bush: Aggressive Conservatism in Florida describes the rise of John Ellis (Jeb) Bush, the second son of former President George H.W. Bush, to political power in Florida. It examines the conservative theory that guided his behavior when he was elected and the aggressive manner in which he used the Office of Governor to pursue his goals. The book offers insight into his motivations and competencies, provides an analysis of the extent to which his self proclaimed 'revolution' achieved its goals, and asks what the revolution meant for Florida. The author's own views naturally structure the analysis provided, but readers are invited to examine his argument and to propose alternative explanations for the Governor's actions and the policy outcomes of his administration.
