"A fool and his words are soon parted, wrote William Shenstone in 1764; one might add that A wit and his words are rarely collected. Here is the antidote: a dazzling survey of the funniest remarks, quips and observations from Ancient Rome, the Bible and Chaucer right up to The Simpsons and The Office. More than 5,000 of the very funniest remarks to have appeared on paper since, well, paper was invented. The lines we all wish we could have said are arranged thematically and cover all aspects of life: from the world we inhabit to the things we eat, smoke and drink; from the way we move around to what and how we learn oh, and the pointlessness of football. Within each theme, the quotationsare placed chronologically providing a real sense of the development of thoughts about each subject as well as seeing how jokes evolve over the years and, in some cases, who borrowed from whom."--Publisher's website.

Jen is married to Fred and has three children she doesn't really like; she works from inside a cupboard with a girl with orange hair and a rather rotund lady who clacks when she eats. Her mother has fallen in love with an Alan Carr look-alike and she has a mother in law who likes to move her furniture whenever she gets the chance. Jen likes to kid herself that she is thinner than Blanche but knows she will never be as attractive as Eileen. Jen, Eileen and Blanche spend a lot of time together. They have known each other for that long that they can be honest to the point of being rude without falling out. They have lots of laughs - usually at other peoples' expense. Blanche is addicted to cleaning. She got drunk and Jen and Eileen gave her a Brazilian wax. She likes to think she has smaller bingo-wings than Jen. Her husband has twins she knows nothing about. Eileen is gorgeous, works in a chemist and has a wonderful husband. She also has problems with her breasts and with her bowel movements. Her mother in law used her vibrator whilst caring for the school pet. Jen will share with you how she avoids sex with Fred and how she laughs when their cat has a pee in his shoes. She will tell you all about Betty and her "Sad Club" and how her lesbian boss asks her all sorts of weird and wonderful questions about her sex life. It has a fast pace, it's full of cheeky fun and sexual innuendos and there are tears shed throughout, some in laughter, some sadly not.

Do You Talk Funny written by David Nihill and has been published by BenBella Books, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-08 with Self-Help categories.

Public speaking can be terrifying. For David Nihill, the idea of standing in front of an audience was scarier than cliff jumping into a thorny pit of spiders and mothers-in-law. Without a parachute or advanced weaponry. Something had to change. In what doesn't sound like the best plan ever, David decided to overcome his fears by pretending to be an accomplished comedian called "Irish Dave" for one full year, crashing as many comedy clubs, festivals, and shows as possible. One part of the plan was at least logical: he was already Irish and already called Dave. In one year, David went from being deathly afraid of public speaking to hosting a business conference, regularly performing stand-up comedy and winning storytelling competitions in front of packed houses. And he did it by learning from some of the best public speakers in the world: stand-up comedians. Do You Talk Funny?: 7 Comedy Habits to Become a Better (and Funnier) Public Speaker shows how the key principles of stand-up comedy can be applied to your speaking engagements and presentations to make you funnier, more interesting, and better looking. (Or at least two of the three.) Whether you are preparing for a business presentation, giving a wedding toast, defending your thesis, raising money from investors, or simply want to take on something you're afraid of, this book will take you from sweaty to stage-ready. You'll learn how to: - Craft a story and content that your audience will want to listen to - Find the funniest parts of your material and how to get to them faster - Deal with stage fright - Master the two most important parts of your performance: timing and delivery Ten percent of the author's proceeds from this book will go to Arash Bayatmakou via Help Hope Live until he is fully back on his feet and thereafter to one of the many facing the same challenges after suffering a severe spinal cord injury.

Funny You Should Say That written by Gerry Dee and has been published by HarperCollins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-17 with Humor categories.

One of Canada’s top comedians shares the funniest stories from his life and career in this collection of hilarious essays For more than two decades, Gerry Dee has made audiences laugh, first as a hard-working stand-up comedian, and then as the star of his own CBC television program, Mr. D. Dee became a physical education teacher, thinking he would have it made: coaching, summers off and a good pension. But he found himself dreaming of a career in comedy, until one day, years later, he turned in his teaching certificate and picked up a microphone. He went on to become one of Canada’s top comics. In his new book of essays, Dee writes about his life—being a kid in suburban Toronto, becoming a father, starring in his own TV show, going on the road to comedy clubs across Canada and the US. He takes us behind the scenes of Last Comic Standing, Mr. D and everywhere in between. There was the time he set up his own DVD-signing appearances, only to have no one show up. Or the time he was flown to the Bahamas, where he performed for drunken fishermen and their “nieces.” And he shares his lifelong affliction with hypochondria and all the medical conditions he doesn’t have. This is Gerry Dee at his comedic finest.
