I also have no idea how long it will be until Josi changes. But the reality hits as the sound of the raging guns go quiet and everything within this room goes still. We're locked inside a room with a ticking time bomb. She is worse than everything we just escaped. The night of the blood moon is upon her. Josi must face the coldness inside—the bloodthirsty darkness that kills with tremendous strength and no thought. Luke has one last chance to save her from certain death. But guilt is a heavy weight on his soul, and if he is ever to find redemption—and love—then the truth of his identity must come out. Will Josi ever be able to forgive his lies? Will she find the strength to fight the darkness inside? And will she survive long enough to do the impossible—join the Resistance, and destroy the Cure once and for all? In the final episode of Fury questions are answered, battles won and lost, and love put through the greatest of all tests. This is a novella-length episode of Fury. The sharp, tangy scent of rusted steel is in my nose. Bales of hay are bright yellow, like spun gold, shimmering in the light of the fire. There's more yellow—long tendrils of hair that belong to a child. I can smell her, can smell her fear. It makes me hungry. It's not rusted steel I smell after all—it's blood. Scared of her growing feelings for Luke, Josi strikes out on her own, determined never to get close to another living soul. A desperate fear is kindling inside her—a fear of the intimacy Luke craves, and a fear of her own terrible past and the trail of murders she has left in her wake. Despite the danger, Luke is drawn to Josi, and is determined to discover the truth about her fury despite the risks. Luke knows that Josi will be hunted by the Bloods—the secret police who slaughter anyone who hasn't been cured. Is Josi's fury enough to keep her alive? And will the deadly secret Luke is keeping from her be discovered? It is a secret he has fought to protect—lied to protect. A secret that could destroy them both if discovered ... This is a novella-length episode of Fury. It will conclude with Episode 3 on 25 March. For more information visit momentumbooks.com.au/books/fury-episode-3/.

In the tradition of Divergent comes a novel about a world where negative emotions are stolen ... and only those with fury can stand up and fight. Eighteen-year-old Josephine Luquet wakes up naked and covered in blood on the same day every year—when the blood moon is full. Josi has not responded to the "Cure"—an immunization against anger mandated by the government—and believes herself to be a threat to others. Then she meets Luke. Luke has had the Cure but seems different than the other "drones"—and he's dead set on helping Josi discover the truth about herself before the next blood moon. But time is running out. Is Luke willing to risk his life to be near her? Does he truly understand what violence she is capable of? Raw and full of passion, Fury is a story of love in a dystopian world, and how much we are willing to forgive in the struggle to remember our humanity. This is a novella-length episode of Fury. It will continue with Episode 2 on 18 March. For more information visit momentumbooks.com.au/books/fury-episode-2/.

Forever Young written by Chris Richards and has been published by Peter Lang this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Buffy, the vampire slayer (Television program) categories.

This book explores 'young adult' fictions - stories about being young, staying young and sometimes never wanting to grow up. Looking at controversial novels by Francesca Lia Block, at sex and 'race' in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and at the online world of fans and censors, Chris Richards argues that attempts to classify and regulate what counts as 'young adult' have failed, and shows how youth - as intense, exciting and tormented - draws audiences unconstrained by age. Throughout the book, the narratives of life as lived by the young emerge as the stuff of the 'self' - made and remade in reading, watching and listening. Fascinating and accessible, Forever Young will be of particular interest to students and teachers concerned with contemporary popular culture in cultural, media, literature and education studies courses.

Lex Populi written by William P. MacNeil and has been published by Stanford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Law categories.

This is a book about jurisprudence—or legal philosophy. The legal philosophical texts under consideration are—to say the least—unorthodox. Tolkien, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, Million Dollar Baby, and other cultural products are all referenced as exemplary instances of what the author calls lex populi—“people’s” or “pop law.” There, more than anywhere else, will one find the leading issues of legal philosophy. These issues, however, are heavily coded, for few of these pop cultural texts announce themselves as expressly legal. Nonetheless, Lex Populi reads these texts “jurisprudentially,” that is, with an eye to their hidden legal philosophical meanings, enabling connections such as: Tolkien’s Ring as Kelsen’s grundnorm; vampire slaying as legal language’s semiosis; Hogwarts as substantively unjust; and a seriously injured young woman as termination’s rights-bearer. In so doing, Lex Populi attempts not only a jurisprudential reading of popular culture, but a popular rereading of jurisprudence, removing it from the legal experts in order to restore it to the public at large: a lex populi by and for the people.

Kick It written by Matt Brennan and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-10 with Music categories.

The drum kit has provided the pulse of popular music from before the dawn of jazz up to the present day pop charts. Kick It, a provocative social history of the instrument, looks closely at key innovators in the development of the drum kit: inventors and manufacturers like the Ludwig and Zildjian dynasties, jazz icons like Gene Krupa and Max Roach, rock stars from Ringo Starr to Keith Moon, and popular artists who haven't always got their dues as drummers, such as Karen Carpenter and J Dilla. Tackling the history of race relations, global migration, and the changing tension between high and low culture, author Matt Brennan makes the case for the drum kit's role as one of the most transformative musical inventions of the modern era. Kick It shows how the drum kit and drummers helped change modern music--and society as a whole--from the bottom up.

The films, television shows, and graphic novel series that comprise the Whedonverse continually show that there is a high price to be paid for love, rebellion, heroism, anger, death, betrayal, friendship, and saving the world. This collection of essays reveals the ways in which the Whedonverse treats the trauma of ordinary life with similar gravitas as trauma created by the supernatural, illustrating how memories are lost, transformed, utilized, celebrated, revered, questioned, feared, and rebuffed within the storyworlds created by Joss Whedon and his collaborators. Through a variety of approaches and examinations, the essays in this book seek to understand how the themes of trauma, memory, and identity enrich one another in the Whedonverse and beyond. As the authors present different arguments and focus on various texts, the essays work to build a mosaic of the trauma found in beloved works like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and more. The book concludes with a meta-analysis that explores the allegations of various traumas made against Joss Whedon himself.
