EVERYBODY RUNS. When deep space bounty hunters Gunn and Salvo chase down a teenager linked to the catastrophic loss of a space station, everything about the job feels off. They're used to greedy people lying to them. But honest people who should know better? That's new. So they do the one thing you don't do in their line of work: Ask questions. Before they know it, they're the ones with a galaxy-wide bounty on their heads ... and the fate of humanity in their hands. Galaxy Run is a sci-fi thriller featuring a pair of (mostly) honest bounty hunters, a not-so-innocent teenager, and a sadistic enemy hellbent on destruction. If you like witty characters, evil plots, and action galore, you'll love it! ARE YOU READY TO RUN?

Proteome Informatics written by Conrad Bessant and has been published by Royal Society of Chemistry this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-11-15 with Science categories.
The field of proteomics has developed rapidly over the past decade nurturing the need for a detailed introduction to the various informatics topics that underpin the main liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) protocols used for protein identification and quantitation. Proteins are a key component of any biological system, and monitoring proteins using LC-MS/MS proteomics is becoming commonplace in a wide range of biological research areas. However, many researchers treat proteomics software tools as a black box, drawing conclusions from the output of such tools without considering the nuances and limitations of the algorithms on which such software is based. This book seeks to address this situation by bringing together world experts to provide clear explanations of the key algorithms, workflows and analysis frameworks, so that users of proteomics data can be confident that they are using appropriate tools in suitable ways.

A champion racehorse, Manikato won races at the elite level over six seasons through the late 1970s and early 1980s and became the first Australian sprinter to earn one million dollars in prize money. But, once getting to the top echelon of racing as a two-year-old, his life endured twists and turns that continually threatened to derail his career, and his life. From the sudden death of his original trainer Bon Hoysted shortly after the 1978 Golden Slipper Stakes, to the prolonged illnesses and niggling injuries that kept Manikato's name in the headlines, the fact that he could compete, let alone win, was almost miraculous. The powerhouse chestnut with a quirky personality forged historic moments including victory in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley five years in a row - a record unlikely to ever be matched - and the birth of the Manikato Stakes.

The Hidden Hypotheses Behind the Big Bang It is quite unavoidable that many philosophical a priori assumptions lurk behind the debate between supporters of the Big Bang and the anti-BB camp. The same battle has been waged in physics between the determinists and the opposing viewpoint. Therefore, by way of introduction to this symposium, I would like to discuss, albeit briefly, the many "hypotheses", essentially of a metaphysical nature, which are often used without being clearly stated. The first hypothesis is the idea that the Universe has some origin, or origins. Opposing this is the idea that the Universe is eternal, essentially without beginning, no matter how it might change-the old Platonic system, opposed by an Aristote lian view! Or Pope Pius XII or Abbe Lemaitre or Friedmann versus Einstein or Hoyle or Segal, etc. The second hypothesis is the need for a "minimum of hypotheses" -the sim plicity argument. One is expected to account for all the observations with a mini mum number of hypotheses or assumptions. In other words, the idea is to "save the phenomena", and this has been an imperative since the time of Plato and Aristotle. But numerous contradictions have arisen between the hypotheses and the facts. This has led some scientists to introduce additional entities, such as the cosmologi cal constant, dark matter, galaxy mergers, complicated geometries, and even a rest mass for the photon. Some of the proponents of the latter idea were Einstein, de Broglie, Findlay-Freundlich, and later Vigier and myself.

This cutting-edge reference book compiles standard operating procedures, protocols, and applications of next-generation sequencing (NGS). It discusses genomic testing applications through NGS. It pays special focus on the protocols for cataloguing variants of uncertain significance. Over the years, NGS and advanced bioinformatics approaches have allowed the transition of genomic assays into translational practices. The book covers visualisation of NGS datasets, investigation of early development impairment, and metagenome protocols. It also discusses the challenges in NGS methods. Key Points: Includes case studies of application of NGS in different taxa like humans, rodents, plants, and bacteria Compiles protocols from various reputed companies like Illumina, PacBio, and ThermoFisher Discusses the translational applications of NGS methods Reviews machine learning heuristics for NGS data interpretation Discusses emerging genomic assay technologies and characterising mechanisms of disease prevalence The book is meant for researchers and industry experts in genomics, computational biology, and bioinformatics. Chapter 7 and 9 of this book is freely available as a downloadable Open Access PDF at http://www.taylorfrancis.com under a Creative Commons [Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC BY-NC-ND)] 4.0 license.

Reverse Phase Protein Arrays written by Tesshi Yamada and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-12-09 with Science categories.
This book provides practical guidance on all aspects of reverse phase protein array (RPPA) technology, which permits the quantification of protein levels in cell or tissue lysates. In addition, the latest results are presented from laboratories across the world where experts are successfully running the challenging RPPA data platform. After an introductory chapter by the inventor of the RPPA technique, the demanding task of lysate preparation is explained. Subsequent chapters review printing platforms and analytical platforms and discuss antibody screening in detail. The role of RPPA data in integrative analyses is thoroughly examined, and the various applications of RPPA, for example to identify molecular targeting drugs or evaluate cancer drug efficacy, are discussed with reference to the latest knowledge. It is hoped that the book will foster the implementation of RPPA by documenting the practical details of the technology and by revealing its great potential. It will be of high value for researchers who plan to build an RPPA platform in their institute and for researchers, clinicians, and companies who use RPPA through collaboration with an existing RPPA facility.
