Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Arbeit, Ausbildung, Organisation, Note: 1,2, FernUniversität Hagen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der „Strukturwandel in modernen Gesellschaften“ und hierbei insbesondere der „Strukturwandel gesellschaftlicher Arbeit“ ist in den letzten Jahren zu einem viel diskutierten Thema innerhalb und zwischen den verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Fachdisziplinen und in der Managementpraxis avanciert. Bei den vielfältigen Versuchen diesen Wandel terminologisch und inhaltlich zu fassen, stößt man unweigerlich auf die These von der Wissensgesellschaft. Nach wie vor wird die Frage, ob wir uns bereits in einer oder der Wissensgesellschaft befinden, wie beispielsweise Nico Stehr (1994) postuliert, oder ob diese erst „...ihre Schatten voraus wirft und wir erst unterwegs zur Wissensgesellschaft sind...“, wie Helmut Wilke und Christoph Hubig betonen (zitiert nach Jäger 2002, S.1), ambivalent diskutiert und eine Antwort hierauf kann und soll im Rahmen dieser Arbeit weder gesucht noch gefunden werden. Das Thema dieser Arbeit „Ganzheitliches Wissensmanagement als neues Managementkonzept - eine strukturationstheoretische Analyse“ lenkt den Blick vielmehr auf Konzepte und Ansätze mit denen insbesondere das betriebliche Management, aber auch Wissenschafts- und Forschungsdisziplinen, sich der mittlerweile unstrittigen, zunehmenden Bedeutung von Wissen in der modernen Gesellschaft anzunähern versuchen. Die Gründe für die besondere Bedeutung des Wissens in der Gesellschaft allgemein und speziell in Unternehmen, werden in der Einführung neuer Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien ebenso gesehen wie in der zunehmenden Relevanz des tertiären Sektors in quantitativer und qualitativer Hinsicht (wenn eine Unterscheidung in primären, sekundären und tertiären Sektor überhaupt noch Sinn macht, da Wissen alle Sektoren durchdringt). Als weitere Gründe werden Globalisierung, Liberalisierung und auch Internationalisierung genannt, womit eine Intensivierung des Wettbewerbs vonstatten geht, der die Unternehmen zu steigenden Wirtschaftsleistungen und einer Beschleunigung von technologischen und produktbezogenen Innovationen zwingt - mit anderen Worten - dazu, strategisch wertvolle, einzigartige und schwer zu imitierende Ressourcen bzw. Kernkompetenz aufzubauen und ausfindig zu machen (vgl. Zimmer 2003; Bullinger/Wörner/Pieto 1997; Langenbacher 2001).
