Cele unsprezece povestiri din Garoafe la bordel exact pe asta pun reflectorul, pe felul în care sursele de amuzament se pot ivi de oriunde. Radu Paraschivescu cotrobăie prin rafturile şi sertarele României de azi şi de ieri, după care creează păţanii menite să smulgă hohote sau măcar să provoace surâsuri. Unele par aşezate la frontiera plauzibilului, altele sunt situaţii de viaţă curentă trecute prin filtrul literaturii. Decorul se schimbă ca în caleidoscoapele copilăriei. Te trezeşti la un seminar despre cuplarea la cerinţele UE în agricultură, în platoul unei emisiuni TV unde lucrurile o iau razna pe nepusă masă sau la o discuţie între şefii de galerii pentru reducerea violenţei în tribune. Eşti părtaş la o farsă cazonă care aminteşte de anii 1980, le ţii companie bucureştenilor când primesc un înalt oaspete american sau asişti la un paradox pe sol străin: invazia individuală. Te miri de coincidenţele din viaţa unui bărbat care îşi duce zilele sub amprenta unei cifre anume, te freci la ochi când vezi ce face ratingul din viaţa omului şi descoperi până unde poate merge spiritul de iniţiativă al studentului român. Totul în registrul poantei, al parodiei, al bunei dispoziţii.

Sunt doar o parte dintre personajele prezente în textele lui Radu Paraschivescu – o distribuţie în care poţi ghici uneori ecouri din proza sud-americană. Şi, chiar dacă ne găsim într-o perioadă în care ţara pare orientată într-o direcţie bună, nu poţi să nu te întrebi cum am fi arătat dacă decidenţii noştri n-ar fi fost rezultatul unei atât de masive contraselecţii. Unde am fi fost dacă meritul şi competenţa ar fi surclasat pila şi învârteala? Cum ne-am fi simţit fără atâţia agenţi patogeni care ne poluează viaţa şi ne strică rosturile? Cu umor şi cu tandreţe, cu spirit critic şi cu înţelegere, Radu Paraschivescu îşi poartă din nou cititorii prin „meandrele concretului“ carpatin şi le spune, cum a făcut-o de atâtea ori, că România e un spaţiu care trebuie ferit, pe cât posibil, de agresiunea personajelor dubioase cu agende pe măsură. Din politică, din sport, din afaceri – în general, din toate zonele unde impostorii se infiltrează uşor, pentru ca apoi să fie greu, dacă nu imposibil, de evacuat.
