Gegen Vergessen: Die Forderung "Sachór - Gedenke!" wird in der hebräischen Bibel rund 250 mal formuliert, nicht selten bezüglich dessen, was dem jüdischen Volk an Unrecht und Verfolgung widerfuhr, besonders markant in 5 Mose 25, 17-19: "Gedenke, was dir Amalek1 angetan..., vergiss (es) nicht!" Diese Verse werden am Schabbat vor Purim gelesen, am 'Schabbát Sachór'.2 Gedenken und nicht zu vergessen wird also geradezu dekretiert und bezieht sich nicht nur auf das Volk Israel, sondern auch auf den jüdischen G'tt selbst. Das Gegenteil von Gedenken ist Vergessen, die Aufforderung, nicht zu vergessen kommt in der Bibel etwa 100 mal vor, und nicht selten wird das Gebot des Gedenkens mit der Mahnung und Warnung verschärft, keinesfalls zu vergessen (vgl. dazu hier S. 197 ff.). Gegen Vergessen: Beide 'Mitzwot' d.h. Weisungen und Pflichten, waren nun in der Tat für das jüdische Volk von ungeheurer Bedeutung, und es lässt sich sehr wohl behaupten, dass man nicht zuletzt vor allem durch diese Weisungen erst verstehen kann, wie ein Volk unter den denkbar schlechtesten Bedingungen über Jahrhunderte nicht nur überleben, sondern dabei sogar seine Identität bewahren konnte. Dies war freilich kein simpler Selbstzweck, sondern notwendige Voraussetzung dafür, G'ttes Weisungen zu befolgen und dadurch ein 'Licht für die Völker' zu sein, d.h. die Welt menschlicher machen zu helfen.

Ich schreibe dies, da es (mit 86 - wie rasend schnell verging das Leben, nach Max Frisch: "Unser Dasein ist kurz wie ein Tag.") wohl meine letzte derartige Publikation gewesen sein dürfte (wobei ich jedoch keinesfalls beim Wort genommen werden möchte). Hier geht es um die Jahresbilanz meiner Arbeiten im Jahre 2023 in Form von Bucheinleitungen, ausgewählten Mails und sonstiger Post aus meinem Lebenskontext, an denen ich Leserinnen und Leser teilhaben lassen möchte. Summa summarum empfand und empfinde ich es so, als ob mein Leben wie "von oben" (bzw. innen?), und zugleich als (fast) völlig selbstbestimmt empfunden wurde, wofür ich dem Himmel dreimal täglich danke. Das gilt auch für den Beitrag des Special Postscirpt von Rabbi Peter Kasdan, das Mitte August wie vom Himmel fiel, nachdem wir uns seit etwa Anfang der 1990er Jahre durch unsere leider inzwischen verstorbenen Freunde Ludwig und Beatrice Mühlfelder (geb. Bravmann in Konstanz) in New Jersey kannten, eine wunderbare jüdische Woche im Sommer 1993 miteinander verbrachten., jedoch den Kontakt verloren, aber urplötzlich wie zur rechten Zeit wiederfanden. Auf meinen Orwell-Beitrag von 1984 bin ich kürzlich eher zufällig gestoßen, habe das Sammelbändchen 1984 und danach (Konstanz 1984) nach 40 Jahren wieder durchgesehen und fand, dass George Orwell in unserer "verdrehten" heutigen Welt, und also auch 2024, absolut aktuell geblieben ist.
