This revolutionary model for collaborative software development is being embraced and studied by many of the biggest players in the high-tech industry, from Sun Microsystems to IBM to Intel. The Cathedral & the Bazaar is a must for anyone who cares about the future of the computer industry or the dynamics of the information economy. Already, billions of dollars have been made and lost based on the ideas in this book. Its conclusions will be studied, debated, and implemented for years to come. According to Bob Young, "This is Eric Raymond's great contribution to the success of the open source revolution, to the adoption of Linux-based operating systems, and to the success of open source users and the companies that supply them."The interest in open source software development has grown enormously in the past year. This revised and expanded paperback edition includes new material on open source developments in 1999 and 2000. Generation Lost is the fifth and the last book of Red Memories novel series. It systematically describes the Proletarian Revolution in Education in the latter half of the Cultural Revolution in China. It was an eventful period when one acute political struggle after another inside the Chinese Communist Party was carried on. The novel also has minute and vivid description of all those events. Generation Lost takes education and schools as its background. It describes how seriously the innocent students are ruined, how far the youngsters are misled and how gravely the Chinese education undertaking is destroyed during that period. Countless college students are driven out of schools like sheep herds to the countryside and factories in all parts of China. In this way, they are trained to be faithful supporters of the ultra-Leftist political line and docile ignorant gangsters for political struggle, instead of being trained to be professional personnel. At the same time the novel describes how the honest young teachers and students are brutally persecuted politically. Generation Lost also depicts the inside story of the struggle between justice and evil in the development of political situation in the latter part of the book. It brings the readers back to the scenes of the soul-stirring political struggle in the mid 1970s and discloses how both cities and countryside are shrouded by political dense fog at a time before and after Premier Zhou Enlai’s death. The tragic story of Gao and Fairy Wine is of a typical nature. They cherish noble aspirations and are imbued with strong sense of justice. However, in those days under the fascist rule, there is no need to divine their lot – either death or banishment. That this couple of lovers commits suicide together by lying on the railway track may be regarded as an indignant protest against the then feudalist tyranny. Generation Lost is the first and also the only literary work that brings to light the complete process of the Proletarian Revolution in Education, which was a disaster to the then Chinese younger generation and the generations to come.

Igen written by Jean M. Twenge and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-22 with Social Science categories.

As seen in Time, USA TODAY, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, and on CBS This Morning, BBC, PBS, CNN, and NPR, iGen is crucial reading to understand how the children, teens, and young adults born in the mid-1990s and later are vastly different from their Millennial predecessors, and from any other generation. With generational divides wider than ever, parents, educators, and employers have an urgent need to understand today’s rising generation of teens and young adults. Born in the mid-1990s up to the mid-2000s, iGen is the first generation to spend their entire adolescence in the age of the smartphone. With social media and texting replacing other activities, iGen spends less time with their friends in person—perhaps contributing to their unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. But technology is not the only thing that makes iGen distinct from every generation before them; they are also different in how they spend their time, how they behave, and in their attitudes toward religion, sexuality, and politics. They socialize in completely new ways, reject once sacred social taboos, and want different things from their lives and careers. More than previous generations, they are obsessed with safety, focused on tolerance, and have no patience for inequality. With the first members of iGen just graduating from college, we all need to understand them: friends and family need to look out for them; businesses must figure out how to recruit them and sell to them; colleges and universities must know how to educate and guide them. And members of iGen also need to understand themselves as they communicate with their elders and explain their views to their older peers. Because where iGen goes, so goes our nation—and the world.
