Collana PAESAGGI IN TRASFORMAZIONE diretta da Enrico Alfonso Corti Questo libro raccoglie i risultati del workshop internazionale di progettazione Santa Gilla 08 organizzato congiuntamente dalla Facoltà di Architettura di Cagliari, con il coordinamento di Cesarina Siddi, e dall'Istituto di Arhitettura del Paesaggio dell'ETH di Zurigo, sotto la direzione di Christophe Girot. In un momento in cui il Paesaggio sta diventando la prima risorsa attraverso cui rafforzare l'identità regionale come migliore espressione del patrimonio culturale, naturale e produttivo, è importante comprendere come trasformare politiche generali in reali occasioni di sviluppo territoriale. In questo senso alcuni temi e alcuni luoghi possono essere considerati esempi paradigmatici per spiegare il significato e il ruolo contemporaneo dell'architettura del paesaggio e l'importanza di un chiaro e strutturato metodo progettuale. La laguna di Santa Gilla, elemento strategico dell'area metropolitana di Cagliari, racchiude lecomplessità, le contraddizioni e il potenziale inespresso per una interessante sperimentazione progettuale. La Sardegna non possiede una solida cultura paesaggistica e la disciplina è di recente introduzione nei programmi accademici. Il workshop intensivo di progettazione può considerarsi come una tra le modalità più efficaci per condividere metodologie teoriche e operative. Christophe Girot (Parigi, 1957) è Professore ordinario di Architettura del Paesaggio al Dipartimento di Architettura dell'Istituto Federale Svizzero di Tecnologia di Zurigo (ETH) dal 2001 e fondatore dell'Istituto di Architettura del Paesaggio nel 2005. La sua ricerca si indirizza su tre temi fondamentali: nuovi metodi topologici nel progetto di paesaggio, nuovi media nell'analisi e nella percezione del paesaggio, storia recente e teoria del progetto di paesaggio. Particolare rilievo è dato al paesaggio urbano contemporaneo alla grande scala con un'attenzione specifica al progetto sostenibile. Cesarina Siddi (Cagliari, 1966) è Docente di Architettura degli Spazi Aperti della Facoltà di Architettura di Cagliari, ricercatore in Composizione Architettonica e Urbana e specialista in Architettura del paesaggio e progettazione dei giardini, dal 1995 svolge attività di professionale e di ricerca sulle tematiche del paesaggio e sul disegno dello spazio pubblico. È autrice di numerose pubblicazioni e iniziative di sensibilizzazione e promozione della cultura del paesaggio contemporaneo.

The spirit of this book is explorative. It meets the contemporary challenge posed by experience and truth with a critical openness that allows for the full complexity of these concepts to be investigated.The distinction between experience and truth has become subject to finitude; how then can these words and concepts be defined?
