This monograph aims to provide a unified, geometrical foundation of gauge theories of elementary particle physics. The underlying geometrical structure is unfolded in a coordinate-free manner via the modern mathematical notions of fibre bundles and exterior forms. Topics such as the dynamics of Yang-Mills theories, instanton solutions and topological invariants are included. By transferring these concepts to local space-time symmetries, generalizations of Einstein's theory of gravity arise in a Riemann-Cartan space with curvature and torsion. It provides the framework in which the (broken) Poincaré gauge theory, the Rainich geometrization of the Einstein-Maxwell system, and higher-dimensional, non-abelian Kaluza-Klein theories are developed. Since the discovery of the Higgs boson, concepts of spontaneous symmetry breaking in gravity have come again into focus, and, in this revised edition, these will be exposed in geometric terms. Quantizing gravity remains an open issue: formulating it as a de Sitter type gauge theory in the spirit of Yang-Mills, some new progress in its topological form is presented. After symmetry breaking, Einstein’s standard general relativity with cosmological constant emerges as a classical background. The geometrical structure of BRST quantization with non-propagating topological ghosts is developed in some detail.

Connections In Classical And Quantum Field Theory written by L. Mangiarotti and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Science categories.

Geometrical notions and methods play an important role in both classical and quantum field theory, and a connection is a deep structure which apparently underlies the gauge-theoretical models. This collection of basic mathematical facts about various types of connections provides a detailed description of the relevant physical applications. It discusses the modern issues concerning the gauge theories of fundamental interactions. This text presents several levels of complexity, from the elementary to the advanced, and provides a considerable number of exercises. The authors have tried to give all the necessary mathematical background, thus making the book self-contained. This book should be useful to graduate students, physicists and mathematicians who are interested in the issue of deep interrelations between theoretical physics and geometry.

New Lagrangian And Hamiltonian Methods In Field Theory written by G. Giachetta and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Science categories.

This book incorporates 3 modern aspects of mathematical physics: the jet methods in differential geometry, Lagrangian formalism on jet manifolds and the multimomentum approach to Hamiltonian formalism. Several contemporary field models are investigated in detail. This is not a book on differential geometry. However, modern concepts of differential geometry such as jet manifolds and connections are used throughout the book. Quadratic Lagrangians and Hamiltonians are studied at the general level including a treatment of Hamiltonian formalism on composite fiber manifolds. The book presents new geometric methods and results in field theory.

Generalized Hamiltonian Formalism For Field Theory Constraint Systems written by Gennadi A Sardanashvily and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-11-15 with Science categories.

In the framework of the geometric formulation of field theory, classical fields are represented by sections of fibred manifolds, and their dynamics is phrased in jet manifold terms. The Hamiltonian formalism in fibred manifolds is the multisymplectic generalization of the Hamiltonian formalism in mechanics when canonical momenta correspond to derivatives of fields with respect to all world coordinates, not only to time. This book is devoted to the application of this formalism to fundamental field models including gauge theory, gravitation theory, and spontaneous symmetry breaking. All these models are constraint ones. Their Euler-Lagrange equations are underdetermined and need additional conditions. In the Hamiltonian formalism, these conditions appear automatically as a part of the Hamilton equations, corresponding to different Hamiltonian forms associated with a degenerate Lagrangian density. The general procedure for describing constraint systems with quadratic and affine Lagrangian densities is presented.

Topological Geometrodynamics written by Matti Pitkanen and has been published by Luniver Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Mathematics categories.

Topological GeometroDynamics is a modification of general relativity inspired by the conceptual problems related to the definitions of inertial and gravitational energy in general relativity. Topological geometrodynamics can be also seen as a generalization of super string models. Physical space-times are seen as four-dimensional surfaces in certain eight-dimensional space. The choice of this space is fixed by symmetries of the standard model so that geometrization of known classical fields and elementary particle quantum numbers results. The notion of many-sheeted space-time allows re-interpretation of the structures of perceived world in terms of macroscopic space-time topology. The generalization of the number concept based on fusion of real numbers and p-adic number fields implies a further generalization of the space-time concept allowing to identify space-time correlates of cognition and intentionality. Quantum measurement theory extended to a quantum theory of consciousness becomes an organic part of theory. A highly non-trivial prediction is the existence of a fractal hierarchy of copies of standard model physics with dark matter identified in terms of macroscopic quantum phases characterized by dynamical and quantized Planck constant. The book is a comprehensive overview and analysis of topological geometrodynamics as a mathematical and physical theory.

Classical Field Theories written by Bertrand Berche and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-18 with Science categories.

This exceptional textbook provides extensive discussions and worked exercises to accompany a field theory course at the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate level. There are many questions that arise, both philosophical and practical, during a standard course in classical field theory that are addressed here in discussions between an advanced graduate student and her inquisitive undergrad friend. The discussion involves explicitly working out exercises and making pertinent remarks on the results and potential of the developed formalism. The book is ideal for readers who have taken or are taking the classical field theory course so that they already have a mathematical background in vector and tensor calculus and are willing to learn the basics of differential forms and exterior calculus to gain further insight into field theory formulation. The text can also be used to answer what you've always wanted to know but never dared to ask about field theory.

This book is a comprehensive reference on differential geometry. It shows that Maxwell, Dirac and Einstein fields, which were originally considered objects of a very different mathematical nature, have representatives as objects of the same mathematical nature. The book also analyzes some foundational issues of relativistic field theories. All calculation procedures are illustrated by many exercises that are solved in detail.

Current Topics In Mathematical Cosmology Proceedings Of The International Seminar written by M Rainer and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-12-31 with categories.

In this volume, current topics from classical large scale models to quantum gravity effects in the mathematical formulation of physically motivated cosmological theories are discussed. There are contributions dealing with topics such as the singularity theorem, the cosmic no-hair theorem and other results related to the big bang and the inflationary cosmological models. Also discussed are non-standard themes like field equations of order higher than 2, space-times of dimension different from 4, relating also to current generalizations of string theory, and some issues in quantum cosmology.
