Raumstrukturen mit ihren Bedeutungszuschreibungen unterliegen immer wieder Veränderungen. Gehen solche Umgestaltungen über längere Zeiträume hinweg vor sich, können sie leichter in die jeweiligen Raumkonzeptionen integriert werden. Kommt es jedoch zu plötzlichen Veränderungen, führt dies häufig zu Konflikten, weil sie als Eingriff in die eigene Ordnung und Orientierung wahrgenommen werden. Dies ist beispielsweise der Fall, wenn es zur Umsetzung von Verwaltungsreformen kommt. In Zeiten von grundlegenden Verwaltungsveränderungen trafen verschiedene Raumvorstellungen aufeinander. Wenn beispielsweise eine Herrschaft beabsichtigte, in einem Gebiet eine neue Ordnung zu implementieren, trat diese in der Folge meist in Konkurrenz zur Raumwahrnehmung und Raumnutzung der dort lebenden Bevölkerung. Ausgehend von diesem Ansatz trifft in diesem Heft von "Geschichte und Region" die Analyse von Raumkonstruktionen auf die neuere Verwaltungsgeschichte. Alle vier Beiträge beschäftigen sich mit der Implementierung oder mit Implementierungsversuchen von neuen Verwaltungsstrukturen, die bestehende Raumkonstruktionen herausforderten. *************** Le strutture dello spazio, insieme ai significati che vengono loro attribuiti, sono state e sono sempre soggette a continui mutamenti. Quanto più lungo è l'arco di tempo in cui tali modificazioni si realizzano, tanto più facile risulta integrarle nelle rappresentazioni dello spazio degli individui. I cambiamenti improvvisi, invece, generano spesso conflitti perché vengono percepiti come un'interferenza nel proprio ordine e orientamento. Questo è il caso, ad esempio, dell'introduzione di riforme amministrative. In periodi di radicali cambiamenti amministrativi si sono scontrate diverse rappresentazioni dello spazio. Quando, ad esempio, un governo mirava a realizzare un nuovo ordinamento in un territorio, ciò avveniva di solito in concorrenza con la percezione e l'utilizzo dello spazio da parte della popolazione che lo abitava. In questo numero di "Storia e regione" la ricerca sulle costruzioni dello spazio coninvolge la nuova storia dell'amministrazione. Tutti e quattro i contributi raccolti affrontano progetti, riusciti o meno, di applicazione di nuove strutture amministrative che hanno messo in crisi le costruzioni dello spazio preesistenti.

Universitäten sind keine in sich geschlossenen, autarken oder abgeschotteten Institutionen, sondern beziehen sich in vielfältiger Weise und auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen auf ihre räumliche Umwelt. Die wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen sind wohl die augenscheinlichsten, Veränderungen im Stadtbild durch die Anwesenheit von Studierenden ebenso offensichtlich. Auswirkungen auf die kulturelle Sphäre, auf das soziale Umfeld, auf die Umverteilung von symbolischem Kapital erfolgen subkutaner. Dabei verweist die Frage nach den Einflüssen, die eine Universität auf ihre Umwelt ausübt, auf jene nach den gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen der Universität selbst. Dies gilt nicht nur für ihre Gründungsphase und den darin entwickelten normativen Ideen und Ansprüchen an die Universität, sondern zielt auch auf die Frage, inwiefern die Universität gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen und Diskurse rezipiert und reflektiert. Dieses Heft versucht sich diesem Fragenkomplex anzunähern und dabei die Möglichkeiten zur Erforschung der vielschichtigen Interaktionen zwischen der Universität und ihrem räumlichen Umfeld auszuloten.

Weiten Teilen Europas gelang es nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg nicht, den Zustand einer post-war-society zu überwinden, in der die öffentliche Teilhabe an Politik zuweilen mit einem hohen Maß an innenpolitischer Gewalt einherging. Insbesondere für die sich neu formierende Rechte und die paramilitärischen Verbände spielte militantes Verhalten in der Zwischenkriegszeit eine Schlüsselrolle. Jugendliche im Allgemeinen und Studierende im Besonderen waren oftmals wichtige Multiplikatoren in solchen Bewegungen, da sie diese als Experimentierfelder für gewalttätige Erfahrungen betrachteten, wobei sie ihren Mangel an Kriegserfahrung oft durch zunehmende Militanz und Brutalität gegen innere und äußere Feinde kaschierten. Trotz zum Teil erheblicher nationaler Unterschiede kann die jugendliche Militanz als ein weitgehend transnationales Phänomen paramilitärischer Organisationen nach 1918/19 betrachtet werden, das enormen Einfluss auf das politische Leben mehrerer europäischer – siegreicher wie besiegter – Länder in den 1920er und 1930er Jahren nahm. Eine nicht unbeträchtliche Zahl von Studierenden organisierte sich zwischen 1918/19 und 1939 in paramilitärischen Einwohner- und Bürgerwehren, politischen Kampfverbänden oder konspirativen Gruppierungen, um gegen Feinde im Inneren bzw. an den diversen Landesgrenzen vorzugehen. In den Bünden, Freikorps und Grenzschutzformationen suchte diese Generation der meist nach 1900 Geborenen – die sogenannte Kriegsjugendgeneration – das eigene Kriegserlebnis nachzuholen, welches ihnen durch ihr junges Alter im Ersten Weltkrieg verwehrt worden war. In den hier versammelten Beiträgen untersuchen die Autorinnen und Autoren die regionalen Dimensionen studentischer Gewalträume und -kulturen. Im Vordergrund steht dabei die Frage, wie die regionalen Verhältnisse und Besonderheiten einen Radikalisierungsprozess beschleunigen bzw. bremsen konnten und welche spezifischen Gewaltkulturen sich in den diversen regionalen Gewalträumen entfalteten. This book takes up the stimuli of new international historiography, albeit focusing mainly on the two regimes that undoubtedly provided the model for Fascist movements in Europe, namely the Italian and the German. Starting with a historiographical assessment of the international situation, vis-à-vis studies on Fascism and National Socialism, and then concentrate on certain aspects that are essential to any study of the two dictatorships, namely the complex relationships with their respective societies, the figures of the two dictators and the role of violence. This volume reaches beyond the time-frame encompassing Fascism and National Socialism experiences, directing the attention also toward the period subsequent to their demise. This is done in two ways. On the one hand, examining the uncomfortable architectural legacy left by dictatorships to the democratic societies that came after the war. On the other hand, the book addresses an issue that is very much alive both in the strictly historiographical and political science debate, that is to say, to what extent can the label of Fascism be used to identify political phenomena of these current times, such as movements and parties of the so-called populist and souverainist right.

Monografija je posvečena manjšim rimskim naseljem, ki ležijo na območju današnje Slovenije, kamor so segale tri velike upravne enote rimske države: Italija ter provinci Norik in Zgornja Panonija. V samostojnih poglavjih je zgoščeno in po skupnem konceptu predstavljenih dvajset naselij različnega tipa in stopnje raziskanosti. Podatki so umeščeni v prostor, podprti s kartami in načrti, vsebinsko primerljivi in jasno ovrednoteni. Vsako poglavje vsebuje podatke o legi naselja in njegovem antičnem imenu, kratko zgodovino raziskav, morebitno obljudenost lokacije v prazgodovini, predstavitev antičnih literarnih virov in epigrafskih spomenikov. Osrednji del je usmerjen v pregled arheoloških ostankov rimske dobe: v topografijo, infrastrukturo, stavbe, grobišča in premične ostanke posebnega pomena. Sledijo podatki o statusu naselja, o družbenem položaju posameznih prebivalcev, njihovih administrativnih ali vojaških funkcijah, poklicih in etnični pripadnosti. Vsako poglavje zaokroža oris zgodovinskega razvoja naselja. This geographically diverse territory was crossed by important lines of communication and divided between three large administrative units of the Roman state: Italy and the provinces of Noricum and Upper Pannonia. Twenty-six authors wrote contributions on individual settlements in a comprehensive and clear manner roughly following a common concept. The presentation of each settlement opens with its location and name in Antiquity, possible habitation traces from prehistory, mentions in ancient literary texts and documents, and recovered epigraphic evidence. The next, main part offers an overview of the archaeological remains from the Roman period: topography, infrastructure, buildings, cemeteries and portable remains of particular significance. This is followed by the information on the status of a settlement, social standing of its inhabitants, their administrative or military functions, as well as professional or ethnical background. All is brought together in an outline of the historical development of each settlement.
