Ghosts of Gettysburg: Walking on Hallowed Ground is a keep-you-up-all-night book from real life master ghost hunters, Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester, cofounders of the International Ghost Hunters Society, the largest ghost research society on the Internet. Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester spend their time traveling the back roads of America, investigating some of its most haunted places. Over a six-year period, they explored and recorded the amazing ghostly experiences of visitors to the Gettysburg battlefield. One year they devoted a full month for battlefield investigations and drove over 1,000 miles on the battlefield gathering data for this book. Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester were the first to hold ghost conferences in Gettysburg teaching about ghost photography and electronic voice phenomena known as EVP. Their annual ghost conferences started the ghost hunting movement in Gettysburg. Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester share 40 haunted sites on the battlefield, not according to folklore, but from their own personal investigations using scientific tools to validate the existence of ghosts. Each haunted site contains a short history of its part in this three-day battle. Read about the ten most haunted Civil War hospitals sites that can be visited by the reader.

After the release of Ghosts of Gettysburg, author Mark Nesbitt was deluged with faxes, phone calls and letters(this was before email and social media!) from people anxious to share their ghostly experiences on the Gettysburg battlefield. He had expected to be accused of either making the stories up or being crazy, along with his sources, for believing in their tales of ghosts. Apparently, the publication of a book chronicling people's interludes with the "other world" somehow validated their own experiences! Ghosts of Gettysburg II includes more ghostly encounters on the Gettysburg battlefield, the Gettysburg College campus, the Lutheran Seminary, and in and around the town and houses of Gettysburg. As long as visitors to the Gettysburg area continue to share their "ghostly" experiences, Mr. Nesbitt will continue to add to the Ghosts of Gettysburg book series.

July 1-3, 1863. Two mighty armies clash outside the small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In the aftermath, tens of thousands lay dead or wounded, many of the poor souls left abandoned on the battlefield for weeks or days. The Battle of Fairfield, a short but brutal cavalry engagement, is fought nearby. The victims are brought to the Fairfield Inn, now hastily pressed into service as a field hospital, where the surgeons ply their bloody trade. The Army of Northern Virginia then retreats through this small town southwest of Gettysburg, where Generals Robert E, Lee and Jeb Stuart also stop at the Fairfield Inn. Originally built circa 1757, the Fairfield Inn was also a stop on the Underground Railroad, used to hide runaway slaves who were fleeing to freedom in the North. Little wonder that it developed a reputation for being haunted that persists to this very day. Shadow figures and apparitions roam the hallways. Footsteps and disembodied voices disturb the sleeping guests late at night. Doors open and close of their own accord. Cold spots abound and objects are moved by invisible hands. Join author Richard Estep ("The Haunting of Asylum 49," "The World's Most Haunted Hospitals") as he and a small team of paranormal investigators move into the Fairfield Inn and work to uncover its many secrets. Accompany them on a tour of the most haunted parts of the Gettysburg Battlefield, from Devil's Den and Little Round Top to the Slaughter Pen, the Valley of Death, and finally to Pickett's Charge, where the ghosts of long-dead Civil War soldiers are said to still march, eternal spirit guardians of America's most hallowed ground.

This book is the third in a series of anthropological studies which analyze ghosts and haunting phenomena in their cultural context. A history of visitations to the Gettysburg landscape is linked to the presence or absence of anomalous sensory manifestations. The preliminary analysis of the data suggests that the hauntings at Gettysburg may be a product of sociocultural factors, in part related to the growth of heritage tourism, rather than any ghostly manifestations by civil war soldiers. Since this is a preliminary analysis, a research design is proposed to further excavate the Gettysburg landscape. This approach is based on the use of ethnographic context, spatial symmetry, cultural relativity, and performance-based investigative practices. The author proposes that through this methodology, acontrolled excavation of the landscape can be made, thus unearthing a more scientific analysis and evaluation of Gettysburg as a haunted cultural place.

My mind was spinning at this point. Here I was - someone who grew up not believing in ghosts, a veteran journalist used to questioning everything - apparently having a conversation with a captain who fought at Gettysburg more than 150 years ago. Was it really possible? Was this some gigantic, wildly ingenious incredible hoax, or was this conversation somehow real? And what was it that brought me - a once dyed-in-the-wool paranormal doubter - to this haunted bridge in search of ghosts? - Don Allison After years of experiences that he could not rationally explain -- experiences that many people encounter, and do shrug off or rationalize - award winning newspaper editor and columnist Don Allison decided to search for answers. Experiences that Don and his grandson experienced in Gettysburg in the spring of 2015 finally convinced Don to present this serious look at the paranormal.. This is what noted paranormal investigator and historian Mark Nesbitt, author of the "Ghosts of Gettysburg" series of books, has to say about "I Met a Ghost at Gettysburg": "A great read. Very entertaining ... I think you've created an "Everyman's" explanation of paranormal experiences. Most people ignore or rationalize away true paranormal events. Your book covers the many types of paranormal events AS paranormal events, and explains how you came (reluctantly, in some cases) to those conclusions." Ghosts busted: Beyond the Fear Testimony throughout recorded history proves beyond a reasonable doubt that ghosts, or energy giving us the impression of ghosts, do indeed exist. People of impeccable reputations, with no reason to lie, have sworn to paranormal encounters. For whatever reason - perhaps fear, perhaps superstition - many people refuse to even consider the possibility of ghosts. In fact, they will go on the attack against those who do share their experiences. Veteran award-winning daily newspaper editor Don Allison used to be among those devout skeptics, even going so far as to doubt his own grandmother's claims of experiences in a haunted house. But after encountering the unexplained many times, he reluctantly concluded he indeed had experienced the paranormal. Eventually, after what he described as a mind-blowing paranormal encounter at Gettysburg, Pa., he could contain his curiosity no longer. He decided to write about his experiences, and to go a step further - to share the science behind what he had encountered. The result is the latest volume from Faded Banner Publications, "I Met a Ghost at Gettysburg: A Journalist's Journey into the Paranormal." Allison said fear of people's reactions to a book on this topic made him think long and hard before tackling this project. "Once I decided to proceed with this book," he explains, "I realized I could hold nothing back. I am treating the paranormal as I would any other topic. I am sharing my own experiences and what I have learned from research. I am passing on what other people have told me about the subject and in some cases their own perceptions of what I have experienced."
