We all know that everything we have is a gift from God. But sometimes it s hard to know just how to give back to God. How much is enough? What does the Bible really say? What should giving look like in our everyday lives? Filled with good news for followers of Jesus, Mark Allan Powell s Giving to God shows Christians the way to a better life and a better relationship with their money — and with God. Powell presents stewardship as an act of worship, an expression of faith, and a discipline for spiritual growth. Faithful use of our time, talents, and money starts with a deep, satisfying relationship with the God to whom we belong. We can then learn, says Powell, to give gladly and generously out of our heartfelt connection with God. Informative, concise, and eminently practical (including discussion questions), Giving to God gives us resources for best using the treasures, material and otherwise, that God has given us.

Have you ever wondered about God? Who is He? How He thinks? How about the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit being One person? Well, let's search the scriptures together so that God can reveal His awesomeness to us in such a way that we're transformed like Him, through Christ Jesus. Giving Is God is a way to search the scriptures in bit-sized pieces that ultimately makes you long to read and study your Bible more. Giving Is God is about God the Father; God the Son, Jesus; and God the Holy Spirit on what He has given us in His Word. It's about God's life through His Son, Jesus Christ; the Word of God; also what we are to give to Him and our fellowmen. This book was written to show how much the Bible talks about giving, and the different ways to give. Yes, it talks about money a lot, which is how the earth operates. God gave us this provision in the beginning (Genesis 2:10 -14). Money is needed for everything, especially to get the Word of God to all the world. This book will give a certain "giving" word and back it up with scripture(s).

Giving to God examines the everyday practices of Islamic giving in post-revolutionary Egypt. From foods prepared in Sufi soup kitchens, to meals distributed by pious volunteers in slums, to almsgiving, these acts are ultimately about giving to God by giving to the poor. Surprisingly, many who practice such giving say that they do not care about the poor, instead framing their actions within a unique non-compassionate ethics of giving. At first, this form of giving may appear deeply selfish, but further consideration reveals that it avoids many of the problems associated with the idea of “charity.” Using the Egyptian uprising in 2011 and its call for social justice as a backdrop, this beautifully crafted ethnography suggests that “giving a man a fish” might ultimately be more revolutionary than “teaching a man to fish.”

To tithe or not to tithe? That is the question heard in churches across the land. Because churches depend on the generosity of their members, there are many sermons and many books that encourage Christians to be generous and use tithing as the standard for their generosity. Yet other voices in the church object to tithing, claiming that the practice is ambiguous, outdated, or misunderstood. Give Like God starts with a careful examination of what the Bible teaches about tithing before discussing what is says about giving and generosity in the teachings of Jesus and his followers. We learn that God is extraordinarily generous and that he is our example and the source of supply for our generosity. Author Stephen Charles Durkee considers the connection between generosity and what we do for work, how we do outreach, how we help people in need, and even how we take on debts. In the end, he shows us the joy we should experience through giving. When we put God’s priorities first in our lives, we discover that he is a good provider and that our lives can be free of financial worries. Money and generosity play an important and truly pivotal role in God’s purposes for his people, and so to have blessings and transformation in our lives, we must learn to give like God!

What does biblical prosperity have to do with giving? While it is clear from Scripture that God desires to prosper His children materially, the Word's emphasis is not on amassing personal wealth but on having a generous heart like the Father's. Ché Ahn believes that God desires to prosper His people, and that He will do so as they trust His grace to provide for their needs and seek to reflect His giving, blessing image. This happens as believers repent of the hindrances of mind and heart that motivate them to grasp at wealth in unhealthy and self-defeating ways. The Grace of Giving guides readers to tear down the idols of wealth and poverty and to flourish in God's presence and provision.
