The dynamics of market changes determine new perspectives both in the theory and practice of management science. The mechanisms of doing business aimed at achieving a high level of company performance are changing. This requires adequate instruments based on the solid pillars of strategic management. Undoubtedly, the key ontological components which determine the success of an organization are effective and efficient business models, strategies and business processes. A kind of strategic hybrid emerges that shapes the principles of doing business subject to pressure, constraints and emerging opportunities. In this approach, companies implement strategies for growth and development not only to survive, but also to achieve strong competitive advantages. Value creation is another area of the development of management science and management practices, defining key factors underlying the conceptualization and operationalization of business models, strategies and business processes. The abovementioned concepts are nowadays widely discussed, creating a new dimension of strategic management. This monograph consists of chapters focused on both theoretical and practical conditions of modern companies, specifically focused on building effective and efficient business models, strategies and hybrids. This monograph primarily refers to new research perspectives which determine the new challenges of strategic management. The aim of the monograph is to present views and approaches to strategic management determined by the development and growth of companies through building their business models, strategies and hybrids. The goals of this monograph are to:- determine key trends in the theory and practice of management science,- define key ontological factors and their use in the dynamic management of modern companies,- present the new dimensions of strategic management as seen through the eyes of the international authors of individual chapters,- and the possibility of applying solutions contained in the monograph. The editor and authors hope that the presented combination of theory and practice will satisfy the needs of readers, in particular managers of modern companies, business consultants and researchers of phenomena in business.

Within the context of globalization, cultural transformations are increasingly analyzed as hybridization processes. Hybridity itself, however, is often treated as a specifically post-colonial phenomenon. The contributors in this volume assume the historicity of transcultural flows and entanglements; they consider the resulting transformative powers to be a basic feature of cultural change. By juxtaposing different notions of hybridization and specific methodologies, as they appear in the various disciplines, this volume’s design is transdisciplinary. Each author presents a disciplinary concept of hybridization and shows how it operates in specific case studies. The aim is to generate a transdisciplinary perception of hybridity that paves the way for a wider application of this crucial concept

According to Porter's generic management strategies, the strategic positioning of a firm can be based on a cost leadership approach, offering lowest prices due to substantial cost savings along the value chain. Secondly, in order to gain competitive advantage, companies may pursue a differentiation approach, creating a uniqueness of their product and superior value for the customer by additional product or service features. Some scholars have argued that in a competitive and global business, pursuing only one 'pure' strategy, is risky or even impossible. On the other hand, researcher found evidence that a mix of strategies is linked to inferior overall performance of the firm. Yet, in today's airline business, a convergence of these inherently different business models, i.e. full-service and lowcost is palpable. A hybridization of these strategic positionings is observed in socalled legacy carriers establishing a low-cost subsidiary or low-cost airlines tailoring products to business travelers for instance. This thesis addresses the strategic challenges airlines face when hybridizing their business strategy in the hypercompetitive aviation industry. Challenges to be anticipated were clustered in the areas of operations, financing, internal as well as external issues. In order to answer the research question, expert interviews with senior managers from airlines, boutique consultancies, and strategic advisory firms were conducted. Interview analyses showed the tendency to hybridize the business model to some degree in order to either defend against competitors or to target new customer segments. However, experts noted that only large enough carriers will be able to endure the hypercompetitive character of the industry. Concerning full-service network carriers, major challenges are anticipated in a weakening of the brand value and image as well as the danger of dilution from the customers' point of view. Lowcost carriers are expected to experience severe operational issues concerning their route network and fleet, leading to cost increases through more complex operations. Interestingly, for both business models, the exact core values of their (former) strategic positioning might be diluted. Overall findings from expert interviews suggest that hybridization might be necessary in this hypercompetitive industry. However, it is advisable to hybridize in a conglomerate with differing business units.
