This book is a father-son project. Actually its more of a father-son/son-father project. The letters are from Edsel Colvin to his dad, Frank Colvin from the time Edsel graduated from high school in 1941 until he got out of the Army in 1945. Most of the comments, introductions to chapters, and sidebars are also from Edsel to his son, Paul Colvin, most of them in response to questions about the original letters. These comments and other items are in italics throughout the book. Edsels letters follow a small-town Oregon boy from his idyllic summer job as a fire lookout overlooking the Pacific in the Coast Range in 1941, where he was alone for weeks at a time, to the bitter French winter of 1944-45 when he saw his first combat and a fortuitous, but painful, hospital stay. They continue after the end of the war in Europe in May through the summer of 1945, when he was sweating out whether he was going to be sent to fight the Japanese in the Pacific Theater. They end in the fall of 1945 with his long-awaited discharge from the Army in Texas and his return to civilian life in Gold Beach.

Going There written by Peter Worrall and has been published by Troubador Publishing Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-01 with Comics & Graphic Novels categories.

Why do GPs consult in a particular way and ask the questions they do? How do they use this information to help patients get the best possible outcomes? This original graphic novel shows the reasoning behind this and the development of related skills by following the training of one GP and the patients and families she meets through this process. It is based on real life experiences to which people can relate. In addition the book contains a series of short life stories; glimpses into family life and of fascinatingly different patients as doctors manage a wide range of health problems. Going There, perhaps uniquely, creates glimpses into GP daily life in comparison with hospital experience as GP trainee Aisha spends time adding alternative clinical experience. One real joy with this kind of graphic novel is that readers can rapidly identify with the people portrayed; sympathise with the doctor whose wife has died; recognise the tension when two doctors understand, but are reluctant to express, an emotional attachment. There are funny incidents too; how could an interpreter suddenly appear to help someone who speaks perfect English? What kind of grandmother is it who can attack a bunch of yobs having a go at her grandson? At the heart of it all, Going There is about real patients and doctors engaged in a multicultural ‘lifeworld’.

The Art And Craft Of Play Directing written by David Stevens and has been published by Lulu.com this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-13 with Art categories.

Theatre is an interpretive art based upon a director's emotional reaction to reading a play and imagining a production of that play. Before the audience experiences the production, the director must go through a process, part art and part craft, to create it. This book is intended to introduce undergraduate students with a solid theatre background to that process. Stevens includes chapters covering theatre and art, the interpretation of the script, composition and movement, working with actors, and matters of style. Each chapter contains exercises in order for students to consolidate what they have learned. The complete text of John Millington Synge's "Riders to the Sea" is included as an example and study text, and Stevens relates many examples from his own rich directing background. Twenty production photos, two sample floor plans, and numerous diagrams round out the text. The study of directing is a life-long project, and in this book Stevens provides a basis for that study.
