"This outstanding book... is a genuinely pivotal contribution to the lively current debate over divine foreknowledge and human freedom.... Hasker's book has three commendable features worthy of immediate note. First, it contains a carefully crafted overview of the recent literature on foreknowledge and freedom and so can serve as an excellent introduction to that literature. Second, it is tightly reasoned and brimming with brisk arguments, many of them highly original. Third, it correctly situates the philosophical dispute over foreknowledge and freedom within its proper theological context and in so doing highlights the intimate connection between the doctrines of divine omniscience and divine providence."—Faith and Philosophy"[God, Time, and Knowledge] is an elegantly written, forcefully argued challenge to traditional views, and a major contribution to the discussion of divine foreknowledge."—Philosophical Review"This is a very competent, thorough analysis of the conflict between free will and divine foreknowledge (or, on some acounts, timeless divine knowledge of our future). It is exceptionally clear."—Theological Book Review

To be saved by Christ Jesus, to believe in Christ Jesus, is much; but to be in Christ Jesus--what can it mean? Surely it is the expression of the greatest nearness to God of which language is capable! The whole sentence, perhaps, may be paraphrased: Placed in a condition of perfect rest, safety, and enjoyment, so near God as to know Him, not as His far-off subjects may, but as the sons of His house, the members of His family. The man who is in this position and knows it, is a delightful person to meet; he is pleasant in manner, he is not tired or hurried or depressed or murmuring. He is seated at home in his own sphere and enjoying it. Hence, with every want supplied, in touch with all-love and all-wisdom, he is naturally utterly unselfish (no praise to him), and is full of strength and courage to fight the good fight, to finish his course, and to keep the faith the warfare, the walk, the witness of the Christian man (2 Tim. iv. 7). But the secret of it all, the source of his strength and untiring zeal, is found in his being seated together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. No murmur is ever heard here, SSnnursin heavenly no doubts are possible here--no dis-p'aces-cords of earth's purblind reasonings. The eye is opened, and the ears; and, the tongue has learned to speak the language of Heaven, so that it calls bitter, sweet; and pain, joy; and all ill, good, --so it be His sweet will. Such, then, is the twofold life of God's child. child, at home now with God in Christ in Heavenly Places, in perfect happiness while fighting the battles of the Lord, or standing at His door and waiting, or treading a lonely path across a wilderness just as it pleases Him. So far we..

The Knowledge Of The Holy written by A. W. Tozer and has been published by Lutterworth Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-27 with Religion categories.

This classic of Christian testimony and devotion explores the attributes of God in words that fly straight to the heart. A superb aid to strengthening and deepening the spiritual life, each chapter begins with a prayer, lucidly discusses a divine aspect -- from God's infinity to God's love -- and relates that aspect to today's world, while pointing always to God's wonder and inscrutability." A. W. Tozer asserts that the cause of many of our modern spiritual woes is the loss in today's church of a lofty concept of God. He argues persuasively that the cure lies in our rediscovery of God's majesty. "True religion confronts earth with heaven and brings eternity to bear upon time," says the author in his preface, "The messenger of Christ, though he speaks from God, must also, as the Quakers used to say 'speak to the condition' of his hearers; otherwise he will speak a language known only to himself. His message must be not only timeless but timely. He must speak to his own generation." The message of this book is indeed both timeless and timely. Tozer is primarily concerned with the loss of the concept of 'majesty' from the popular mind and more importantly in the thinking of the church. He sees the church as having surrendered her once lofty concept of God - not deliberately, but little by little and without her knowledge. With this comes a further loss of religious awe and a sense of the divine presence, of an appropriate spirit of worship and of our ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence. Tozer attempts to address this problem, to go back to the causes of the decline and to understand and correct the errors that have given rise to our loss of a sense of the holy. "It is impossible to keep our moral practices sound and our inward attitudes right while our idea of God is erroneous or inadequate," he tells us.
