The biblical theme of spiritual adultery stands in all its bluntness for a deeply offensive sin—the unfaithfulness of God's covenant people in departing from Yahweh, their husband, and going after false gods. Raymond C. Ortlund Jr. begins by showing how the Genesis vision of human marriage provides the logic and coherent network of meanings for the story of Israel's relationship with Yahweh. He traces the specific theme of marital unfaithfulness, first through the historical books of the Old Testament and then through the prophets, particularly Hosea, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Turning to the New Testament he also shows how the sad story of Israel's adultery is transcended by the vision of ultimate reality in Christ and his church—the Bridegroom and the Bride. This beautifully written book, a New Studies in Biblical Theology volume, is marked by careful exegesis and deep sensitivity. It is that rare thing—a work of scholarship that calls readers to love God with an ardor that suffuses all of life. Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprising New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead. This book was previously published under the title Whoredom.

Go, marry an unfaithful woman. Not exactly the assignment you want to hear from God. Yet it was what God asked Hosea to do, giving the prophet a unique understanding of what God was experiencing as his people turned away from him and worshiped false gods. Then God gave him messages for his unfaithful peoplemessages of warning and caution, messages hinting at redemption and grace, messages spoken to beckon them near to their husband-God. They were messages that made a big deal of a big lovea love too jealous to tolerate competition. In Jealous, Rebekah leads you through a Bible study of the book of Hosea and then recounts her personal stories of grace that are stirred from the Scriptures. The study will take you through each chapter of Hosea, engaging first your mind, then your heart, and then your hands. Following the study portion Rebekah tells of how God has rescued her and redeemed her own heart through the ups and downs, joys and pains of marriage, motherhood, and ministry. She will invite you to study Gods Word hard, for much more than an emotional fix or better self-esteem. Through this study, you will learn to consider who God is as husband-God and who you are as the unfaithful wife whom he married with eyes wide open.

As a teenager my husband was sexually abused by our pastor for years. This caused him to have a lot of anger and commit adultery. Our son, Dennis, because of his father's sin became troubled with evil spirits, tormenting him day and night for many years. Many spouses divorce their husbands and wives when they commit adultery to punish them. God does the punishing. My husband had bladder and prostate cancer. Now he has a lot of pain and a urine bag hanging on his body. In 1984 I started to spend a lot of time praying for the Lord's help in our marriage, because the bible mentions divorce is wrong, Matthew 5:31-32, Mark 10:8-12. This caused me to have a beautiful relationship with the Lord. He said "spouses can fail you, but you can be complete in me." In 2004, the Lord asked me to put my journals I wrote for 20 years in a book, in order to save other marriages, many spouses are hurt because they had a bad childhood. We must have patience and sped time with the Lord for them. The bible says we should even love our enemies, how much more our spouses, Matthew 5:44. We should forgive them 70 times 7, Matthew 18:22. It also says, I am jealous over you with Godly jealousy, for I have exposed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ, 2 Corinthians 11:2. Arlene Adams was inspired by the Lord to put together this book from her 20 years worth of journals about her and her husband's suffering and reconciliation over his adultery. Coming from a very spiritual family, Arlene turned to Him in her time of need and was given the comfort she needed to help her husband and their marriage move forward.

The book of Jonah is arguably just as jarring for us as it was for the ancients. Ninevah's repentance, Jonah's estrangement from God and the book's bracing moral conclusion all pose unsettling questions for today's readers. For biblical theologians, Jonah also raises tough questions regarding mission and religious conversion. Here, Daniel Timmer embarks on a new reading of Jonah in order to secure its ongoing relevance for biblical theology. After an examination of the book?s historical backgrounds (in both Israel and Assyria), Timmer discusses the biblical text in detail, paying special attention to redemptive history and its Christocentric orientation. Timmer then explores the relationship between Israel and the nations—including the question of mission—and the nature of religious conversion and spirituality in the Old Testament. This New Studies in Biblical Theology volume concludes with an injunction for scholars and lay readers to approach Jonah as a book written to facilitate spiritual change in the reader.

God S Ex Wife written by David M. Woodland and has been published by Gatekeeper Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-01 with Family & Relationships categories.

God's Ex-Wife is a "novoir" (part novel/part memoir) in which anecdotes from both authors' lives are woven into a work of fiction, though every character in the story was inspired (at least in part) by an actual person who left an impact on David, Jessica, or both. We never stop learning, and everyone who enters our life is a teacher of sorts (though life itself is the ultimate teacher!) God's Ex-Wife, despite the name, is not about religion; It's about choice, identity, love, education, friendship, and HOPE. It has never been harder to be young in America, especially as a misfit. There is a whole country between New York and Los Angeles, and much of that region is little more than ""The MoFN"" (Middle of F**king Nowhere). This book is offered as a beacon to the young people in those places who-- because of their sexuality, their race, or merely their independent spirit -- have never ""fit in."" We see you. We appreciate you. And we do NOT want you change. But we do want you to leave. You want it too, and we want to empower you to do that. The MoFN (Middle of F**king Nowhere) is no kind of place for a big, Jewish girl with strange clothes, or her only friend: a gay boy with even stranger clothes. But for now that's exactly where Debbie and Phil are stuck. Growing up in the 90's in a cold New England town with nothing to do, no exposure to the world beyond, or experience with people of color (who will eventually play a huge role in their lives), and bullied on a daily basis, they turn to their love of writing and performing , initially as an escape from their monotone misery, and an antidote to their boredom. It is only through the efforts of Mrs. Rosen, Debbie's eccentric and sophisticated mentor, that they realize how far their talents might actually take them. But is there more to Debbie's weirdness than just punk rock and black nail polish? Long since divorced from religion, she is not exactly big on faith. So how does Debbie know what she knows? She can't even answer that herself.

Have you ever wondered... How Did God Do It? How did God perform the many miracles and supernatural events described in the Holy Bible — without violating the laws of physics and chemistry that He Himself put into place? And without conflicting with the basic tenets of Judaism and Christianity? This book proposes a theory that marries faith and rationality in a symphony of science and scripture.
