Der Glaube an Gott und die Lehre der katholischen Kirche sollten nicht im Widerspruch zueinander stehen, aber gerade aktive Christen verspüren zunehmend ein Spannungsfeld. Die kirchliche Einstellung zu vielen Themen ist nicht einmal mehr für viele gläubige Mitglieder nachvollziehbar, umso weniger für Menschen, die außerhalb oder am Rand der Kirche stehen. Ist das ein Thema, das Menschen interessant finden? Definitiv, wenn es nur gelingt, mit ihnen ins Gespräch zu kommen. Sobald man zu Punkten gelangt, die sie für sich persönlich als relevant empfinden, wird der Gedankenaustausch plötzlich spannend. So geht es auch Klaus, ein mitten im Leben stehender Projektmanager und Familienvater aus München. Er kommt in seinen Geburtsort und trifft dort Sebastian, einen Rentner Ende sechzig, der weit in der Welt herumgekommen ist. Aus der zufälligen Begegnung wird eine Folge intensiver Gespräche. Darf die Kirche entscheiden, was gut und was böse ist? Wie ist das mit der Dreifaltigkeit? Hilft die Kirche den Menschen bei ihrem Versuch, sich Gott anzunähern oder stellt sie für viele eher ein Hindernis dar? Eingerahmt werden die Gespräche durch Beobachtungen in der ländlichen Heimat von Klaus. Dabei wird, manchmal mit etwas Schmunzeln, die bayerische Lebensart skizziert. Es fließen aber auch weitere Spannungsfelder wie das Zusammenspiel von Bodenständigkeit und moderner Lebensart oder die Landflucht und die damit verbundenen Probleme in den ländlichen Regionen mit ein. Und da sind dann auch noch die Mutter von Klaus und Tante Trude, die nicht nur für gutes Essen, sondern immer wieder auch für unterhaltsame Situationen sorgen, und am Schluss noch für eine faustdicke Überraschung gut sind. All diese Elemente sorgen hoffentlich dafür, dass schwierige, die menschliche Existenz und den Glauben betreffende Themen in einer Weise transportiert werden, die unterhaltsam genug ist, um flüssig und mit Freude gelesen zu werden.

The relationship between theology and philosophy in Gregory of Nyssa's thought is a subject of great controversy. This study on one of Gregory's key writings does not however focus on the study of the source material, but discusses instead the philosophical implications of Gregory's ideas. Thus it is possible to place Gregory's principles in a broader context while maintaining the differences with philosophy. In the first part of the work, the Prooemium of the De Vita Moysis is examined. Following the classical rhetorical tradition, Gregory here starts off with the central themes of the entire work. The second part is devoted to the concept of theoria. This is explored through discussions of the eternity of God, "language theory", human striving towards God, and biblical interpretation. In the last chapter these structures of the notion of theoria are further examined in the light of the theophany in the De Vita Moysis.
