This volume studies this contemporary Italian political system. Through an analysis of the system, the author explains party organization, formalgovernment institutions--legislature, executive, judiciary, administrative, and sub-national--as well as the impact of the European Community on the national political system. He includes with a discussion of recent reforms at both national and local levels, and assesses the debate on widerconstitutional reform.

The Politics Of Italy written by James L Newell, Professor and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-14 with POLITICAL SCIENCE categories.

This innovative text offers a completely fresh approach to Italian politics by placing it in its historical, institutional, social and international contexts. Students will get to grips with the theories and concepts of comparative politics and how they apply specifically to Italy, while gaining real insight into more controversial topics such as the Mafia, corruption and the striking success of Berlusconi. The textbook uses clear and simple language to critically analyze Italy's institutions, its political culture, parties and interest groups, public policy, and its place in the international system. Often regarded as an anomaly, Italy is frequently described in terms of 'crisis', 'instability' and 'alienation'. Sceptical of these conventional accounts, Newell argues that, if understood in its own terms, the Italian political system is just as effective as other established democracies. With features including text boxes and further reading suggestions, this is an unbeatable introduction to the politics of Italy.

2013 Reprint of 1950 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This book is a collection of four essays published by Pareto regarding the ruling class in Italy. The major essay is in English and the rest are in French. Essays include: 1. The Parliamentary Regime in Italy. 2. Lettre d'Italie [two essays] 3. L'Etatisme en Italie It is a basic axiom for Pareto that people are unequal physically, as well as intellectually and morally. In society as a whole, and in any of its particular strata and groupings, some people are more gifted than others. Those who are most capable in any particular grouping are the elite. The term "elite" denotes simply a class of the people who have the highest indices in their branch of activity. Pareto argues that "It will help if we further divide that [elite] class into two classes: a governing elite, comprising individuals who directly or indirectly play some considerable part in government, and a non- governing elite, comprising the rest." His main discussion focuses on the governing elite.

Changing Governance In Universities written by Giliberto Capano and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-01-09 with Education categories.

This book critically examines the ramifications of reforms to higher education institutions. All of the higher education system reforms implemented in western countries over the last three decades have had one fundamentally important aim: namely, that of changing the existing institutional and system governance arrangements. This book argues that within this general framework, Italy is a relative latecomer to a scenario where attempts at university reform have been characterized by considerable difficulties, and have been blighted by the arguably poor quality of policy design. By focusing on the Italian reform trajectory as an emblematic case, and providing a comprehensive of the historical evolution of higher education in Italy and further afield, this book adopts a comparative perspective to show how reforms of governance in higher education may achieve different degrees of success depending on the characteristics of their policy design, and why these reforms inevitably lead to a series of unintended consequences. It will be vital reading for those interested in education policy and the history of education.

This book provides an understanding of the characteristics of corporate governance in Italy, one of the most developed countries in the world, symbol of the family capitalism. The text presents the main peculiarities of the Italian corporate governance system, its impact on decision-making in corporate boardrooms, and the potential positive and negative consequences for the firm and its stakeholders. Several real-life case studies were included to help the reader grasp the subtleties of how power is exercised in Italian companies. The authors combine their knowledge of research with their professional experience. Such an approach helps the reader interpret the nuances of corporate governance practices in Italian companies as those practices are driven not only by the globalization of markets, but also by national economic, social, and political forces. The result is a unique corporate governance system, which deeply differs from the Anglo-American one. This book is, therefore, particularly relevant for a wide international audience (including investors, corporate directors, scholars, and practitioners) as it provides useful insights to interpret, evaluate and take sound decisions in Italian companies.

Politics In A Museum written by James Miller and has been published by Praeger this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-06-30 with History categories.

How and why has the city of Florence, one of the great treasure houses of western civilization, been reduced to little more than a Renaissance Disneyland for tourists? Florence, once a center of national intellectual creativity, has become a city with two separate lives. Its historic center caters to and profits from tourists, while the periphery houses a population that endures overcrowding, decaying infrastructure, and an exorbitant cost of living. In Politics in a Museum, James Miller investigates Florence's losing struggle with modern times. He traces the city's story from its bloody liberation in 1944 through a reconstruction led by Communist and Catholic saints, the flood of 1966, the booms and busts of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. In the process, Miller provides an analysis of the defects of Italy's national political system, as well as a meticulous reconstruction of the men and events that have placed Florence alongside Venice in the unenviable status of museum city.
