La carriera del corridore ciclista e grande, grandissimo Campione GINO BARTALI abbraccia un arco di tempo di 23 anni e mezzo. Inizia il 19 luglio del 1931 con una gara che vince, ma verrà squalificato per aver superato di un giorno l’età massima ammessa, e terminerà il 28 novembre 1954 ad oltre 40 anni. Il suo ingresso tra i professionisti (1935) coincide col declino di Alfredo Binda e Costante Girardengo (nel 1936 correranno per l’ultimo anno) e con l’inizio della fase discendente di un altro grande: Learco Guerra, mantovano denominato la “locomotiva umana”, che fu tra i maggiori rivali e antagonisti dei due fuoriclasse. Nei primi sei anni di carriera (1935-1940) Bartali ha già un Albo d’Oro da “Campionissimo”: due Giri d’Italia (1936-1937), un Tour de France (1938), due Milano-Sanremo (1939 e 1940), tre Giri di Lombardia (1936-1939 e 1940), tre Campionati Italiani (1935-1937 e 1940) ed altre importanti corse. Con tutti i risultati della carriera di Gino Bartali. Bartali è stato un grande anche nella vita. Durante l'ultima guerra mondiale, rischiando la sua vita, ha salvato centinaia di perseguitati, vittime delle leggi razziali e per questo motivo è stato dichiarato "Giusto fra le Nazioni".
