The final book in the Agnes Browne trilogy. At forty-seven years of age Agnes, now thirteen years happily widowed, enters the 1980s with a fruit stall in Moore Street, a French lover and six children, five of them in their twenties. Becoming a grandmother is a terrible shock to her system, especially as Agnes suffers every one of her daughter-in-law's labour pains! And as the family expands so do the problems -one son's inevitable brush with the law, the heartbreak of emigration. But Agnes Browne is nothing if not a fighter, and she squares her shoulders, offers up a quick one to her departed pal, Marion, and sets about getting things back on an even keel - or as even as things ever get in the Brown household! The same quick-fire dialogue, hilarious humour and great characterisation as in Brendan's bestselling The Mammy, filmed as Agnes Browne by Angelica Huston, and the BAFTA-winning TV series Mrs Brown's Boys.

During these two years she travelled to Moscow and across Siberia and Mongolia to China. In 1958 she spent seven months in South Sudan and from there she travelled to Aswan in Upper Egypt by paddle steamer on the Nile. In Aswan she was arrested, locked up for a few days and returned to Khartoum, Sudan. In 1959 she embarked on a four year course at a Scottish University. Educational and entertaining, funny and free. Everyone likes having a superhero in the family. At least, life won't be boring. But Megan Havervlok doesn't have a family. She lives in an orphanage, and that orphanage stands in Polderdam, the most boring village in the Netherlands. That makes it difficult to experience exciting adventures. Everything changes on her eighth birthday. On that day, Granny comes to visit. Granny needs help with counting and calculations, with baking eggs and… with experiencing adventures. Granny is a superhero by profession. Meg loves adventures. She offers to help Granny. This results in a colourful collection of short stories, each more beautiful and funnier than the other. Meg wrote them all in a beautiful book, with a front cover by the famous artist Gerard Monster, a book that grandmothers can read aloud, so their grandchildren can enjoy, and above all laugh out loud. For grandmothers and their grandchildren, aged 9 to 99. Megan Havervlok wrote numbers 1 and 2 on Google Books' list of the world's most popular free Dutch children's books (April 2022). When we asked Megan how an eight-year-old could beat all those professional authors, she said: "Pffff. Simple. With a superhero like Granny around, everything is possible."

Barefoot in Beaufort is a trilogy containing the first three books in the Sarah Bowers series. The books are for young ladies ages eight to eighty. Girls today should find the books interesting and insightful as they learn that over half a century ago their grandmothers were taught values much like girls today. Twelfth Summer is the first in the series of eight historical novels set in the 1940s. Each of the books is fast paced-containing adventure, danger, sadness and hilarity. Fishing, a secret hideaway, a hurricane and a cousins wedding all conspire to make the summer on the coast with grandparents anything but ordinary. The Bowers children learn from parents and grandparents the importance of family ties strengthened by traditional values. Using good manners and showing respect for others is learned and maintained within the family unit. Thirteenth Summer follows. Sarah Bowers looks forward to once again spending time with her maternal grandparents in the little town by the sea. She renews friendships made the summer before, observes and is influenced by their attitudes, beliefs and diverse personalities. Sarah makes a tough choice because it is the right thing to do. She watches as her younger brother courageously brings home a stray dog and stands strong before the disapproving looks of his mother, grandmother and most of all, Clara, the cook. Sarah receives a strange request from a special someone in Canton, Ohio. Fourteenth Summer finds Sarah in Beaufort because of the threat of infantile paralysis. Characters from the first two books are reintroduced. Throughout the book Sarah, her friend Nancy and Granny Jewel embark on the daunting task of finding a suitable bride for Uncle Herb. He surprises all with a request to bring someone home to dinner. Sarah is asked secretly if she would return the following summer and be a bridesmaid.
