They find themselves overruled by the Producer, George McBay, the son of a wealthy business owner who wants to highlight the achievements of the Honorable David Laird, a distant relative, who was responsible for negotiating several of the Numbered Treaties in the late 1800's. The result is a battle by Kate and Rory to deliver a more balanced view of Colonial History and particularly Numbered Treaties 6, 7, and 8 that ceded vast portions of Canada for very little return for their former owners. Romance, seduction, identity confusion, loyalty and betrayal result as the documentary proceeds.
