50 great mountain walks in Scotland. Some of the routes described in this larger format book are well known classic challenges such as the Lochaber Traverse, the Mamores and Cairngorms 4000-ers while others approach a favourite mountain from a new angle or combine several in a testing way. Each one can be crammed into a single, long day or backpacked over two to spend a little longer in this rugged and addictive landscape. The collection spans Scotland, right across its magnificent upland areas and dramatic peaks. Routes range from 12 to 25 miles and many would make a good two-day adventure. Some can be approached by kayak or mountain bike. Over 270 ranges and summits feature in settings as varied as the snowbound Cairngorm plateaus and the land-sea jigsaw of the Hebrides, where rugged peaks rise from clear water. Few walking destinations are better suited to routes at the longer, tougher end of the scale.

Best Day Walks In Snowdonia written by John Gillham and has been published by Frances Lincoln this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-01 with Snowdonia (Wales) categories.

Snowdonia is one of Britain's great mountain regions. Formed by ice and fire, these 'alps' of North Wales soar to a serrated skyline of rocky pyramids and ridges. Climbers have come here since the days of the early pioneers, but this is fine walking country too. John Gillham, who created the critically-acclaimed and comprehensive four-volume Pictorial Guides to the Mountains of Snowdonia for Frances Lincoln, has this time turned his attention to circular walks, suitable for families. Each of the 30 walks in the book has been graded from 1 to 5 for both technical difficulty and strenuousness. None of the walks contains any difficult or exposed scrambling, and the itineraries range from an easy-paced walk on the foothills above Bala to a steep rocky assault on Tryfan. By starting on the easier routes and working up through the grades, the book provides a good introduction for families and newcomers to mountain walking. Equally there are enough splendid outings in high mountain scenery to satisfy the most enthusiastic mountain lover.

Following the success of "A Pocket Guide to Snowdonia's best Mountain Walks" published in 2007, Mara Books have launched Carl Rogers' new book "Mountain and Hill Walking in Snowdonia," a two-volume in-depth pocket sized guide to mountain walks in the Snowdonia National Park. Every hill group in the National Park is covered in detail and the book is lavishly illustrated in full colour with the author's photographs and relief maps. Volume 2 covers the lesser-known southern half of Snowdonia - Moelwynion, Rhinogydd, Arenig, Arans, Cadair Idris and Dyfi hills, as well as outlying areas like the Tarrens, Snowdonia's southern-most summits, and the Berwyns, lying just outside the National Park boundary. Every summit of note in Snowdonia is covered by at least one route, all the routes are full-day circular walks and include some low-end scrambles. The routes are a mix of well known 'classic rounds' such as the Snowdon Horseshoe and Moel Siabod, as well as many lesser-known routes and summits. Each route is described in detail and is accompanied by a full colour relief map as well as information on official parking, distances and height gained.
