Yogendra Singh Yadav was born on May 10, 1980 in the Ahir village of Aurangabad in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. Rank—Grenadier, Retired as Honorary Captain Unit—18 Grenadiers War—Kargil War (Operation Vijay – 1999) Award—ParamVir Chakra Recognition—five months old when he joined the Indian Army. Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav not only defeated the enemy but also dodged death in this war. At the time of receiving the ParamVir Chakra award he was only 19 years of age. Even after his body was pierced by multiple bullets and grenade shrapnel, he charged the enemy bunkers and cleared the path for the regiment to capture the mighty peaks of Tiger Hill. He displayed the most conspicuous courage, indomitable gallantry, grit and determination under extreme adverse circumstances during the Kargil War which made him the youngest awardee of the highest Indian military award - the Param Vir Chakra.
