György Ligeti is a composer whose stance always extended into a multidimensional field. Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Digitaler Film bedeutet mehr als nur Special Effects: Zum ersten Mal in über 100 Jahren Filmgeschichte verändert sich die grundlegende Basistechnologie des analogen, photochemischen Filmmaterials. Der Film ist nicht länger an die physisch erfahrbare Materie gebunden. Nicht mehr Silberkristalle werden belichtet, sondern digitale Daten abgespeichert. An die Stelle des chemischen Prozesses tritt ein digitaler Rechenvorgang. Die Folgen dieser Veränderung sind kaum abzusehen. Gewaltige Kosteneinsparungen erhoffen sich Produzenten und Filmverleiher von der digitalen Technik - aber gleichzeitig explodieren die Budgets der digitalen Effektfilme Hollywoods. Etablierte Filmemacher befürchten mit wachsendem Entsetzen das Verschwinden langjähriger Traditionen, während experimentierfreudige Filmkünstler mit Begeisterung die neuen Möglichkeiten erwarten. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich daher mit den Auswirkungen der neuen digitalen Technik auf gestalterische und wirtschaftliche Aspekte des Kinofilms. Denn Film bewegt sich immer im Spannungsdreieck zwischen Gestaltung, Technik und Wirtschaft. Die Wechselwirkungen zwischen diesen Aspekten sind vielfältig und kaum isoliert zu betrachten. Gang der Untersuchung: Ein einführendes Kapitel beschäftigt sich in allgemeiner Form mit der zwiespältigen Beziehung zwischen Film und Filmtechnik. Auch eine kurze Geschichte der Filmtechnik ist enthalten, denn nur wer die Auswirkungen von früheren Entwicklungen wie dem Ton- und Farbfilm versteht, vermag die Auswirkungen der digitalen Revolution abzuschätzen. Im Hauptteil werden nach einer allgemeinen Einführung über das Wesen des Digitalen einzelne wirtschaftliche und ästhetische Aspekte betrachtet. Besondere Berücksichtigung finden die oft gegensätzlichen Auswirkungen beim hochindustrialisierten Mainstream-Film und dem unabhängigen Low-Budget -Film. Auch auf absehbare Grenzen und weit verbreitete falsche Annahmen über die Zukunft der digitalen Filmtechnik wird hingewiesen. Abschließend folgt eine zusammenfassende Betrachtung über die Zukunft des Films, die nicht nur Aspekte der Digitalisierung, sondern auch darüber hinaus gehende Tendenzen für Filmgestaltung, -produktion und -vertrieb berücksichtigt.
