Coding theory and cryptography allow secure and reliable data transmission, which is at the heart of modern communication. Nowadays, it is hard to find an electronic device without some code inside. Gröbner bases have emerged as the main tool in computational algebra, permitting numerous applications, both in theoretical contexts and in practical situations. This book is the first book ever giving a comprehensive overview on the application of commutative algebra to coding theory and cryptography. For example, all important properties of algebraic/geometric coding systems (including encoding, construction, decoding, list decoding) are individually analysed, reporting all significant approaches appeared in the literature. Also, stream ciphers, PK cryptography, symmetric cryptography and Polly Cracker systems deserve each a separate chapter, where all the relevant literature is reported and compared. While many short notes hint at new exciting directions, the reader will findthat all chapters fit nicely within a unified notation.

The volume is a collection of 20 refereed articles written in connection with lectures presented at the 12th International Conference on Finite Fields and Their Applications ('Fq12') at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY in July 2015. Finite fields are central to modern cryptography and secure digital communication, and hence must evolve rapidly to keep pace with new technologies. Topics in this volume include cryptography, coding theory, structure of finite fields, algorithms, curves over finite fields, and further applications.Contributors will include: Antoine Joux (Fondation Partenariale de l'UPMC, France); Gary Mullen (Penn State University, USA); Gohar Kyureghyan (Otto-von-Guericke Universität, Germany); Gary McGuire (University College Dublin, Ireland); Michel Lavrauw (Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy); Kirsten Eisentraeger (Penn State University, USA); Renate Scheidler (University of Calgary, Canada); Michael Zieve (University of Michigan, USA).

Codes, Curves, and Signals: Common Threads in Communications is a collection of seventeen contributions from leading researchers in communications. The book provides a representative cross-section of cutting edge contemporary research in the fields of algebraic curves and the associated decoding algorithms, the use of signal processing techniques in coding theory, and the application of information-theoretic methods in communications and signal processing. The book is organized into three parts: Curves and Codes, Codes and Signals, and Signals and Information. Codes, Curves, and Signals: Common Threads in Communications is a tribute to the broad and profound influence of Richard E. Blahut on the fields of algebraic coding, information theory, and digital signal processing. All the contributors have individually and collectively dedicated their work to R. E. Blahut. Codes, Curves, and Signals: Common Threads in Communications is an excellent reference for researchers and professionals.

In the new era of technology and advanced communications, coding theory and cryptography play a particularly significant role with a huge amount of research being done in both areas. This book presents some of that research, authored by prominent experts in the field. The book contains articles from a variety of topics most of which are from coding theory. Such topics include codes over order domains, Groebner representation of linear codes, Griesmer codes, optical orthogonal codes, lattices and theta functions related to codes, Goppa codes and Tschirnhausen modules, s-extremal codes, automorphisms of codes, etc. There are also papers in cryptography which include articles on extremal graph theory and its applications in cryptography, fast arithmetic on hyperelliptic curves via continued fraction expansions, etc. Researchers working in coding theory and cryptography will find this book an excellent source of information on recent research.

Applications Of Computational Algebraic Geometry written by David A. Cox and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Mathematics categories.
This book introduces readers to key ideas and applications of computational algebraic geometry. Beginning with the discovery of Gröbner bases and fueled by the advent of modern computers and the rediscovery of resultants, computational algebraic geometry has grown rapidly in importance. The fact that "crunching equations" is now as easy as "crunching numbers" has had a profound impact in recent years. At the same time, the mathematics used in computational algebraic geometry is unusually elegant and accessible, which makes the subject easy to learn and easy to apply. This book begins with an introduction to Gröbner bases and resultants, then discusses some of the more recent methods for solving systems of polynomial equations. A sampler of possible applications follows, including computer-aided geometric design, complex information systems, integer programming, and algebraic coding theory. The lectures in this book assume no previous acquaintance with the material.
